Sorry, that doesn't help much in actually finding it. And it's possible I'm wrong about the RotJ set. (but i don't think so.

The last time it was used was in the From Star Wars to Jedi doc.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.
Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Is it the piece that sounds like cheesy porno music?
Yeah, exactly the kind of music Jabba likes to listen to when he sips drinks, licks ladies and eats, um, frogs. Apparently, there are no cats in the SW universe.

Neil speaks the truth. The film version of "Lapti Nek" was lost when the master tapes were sent out to remixers for the 12" club single and the Sail Barge music was lost after the master tapes were sent to the producers of From Star Wars to Jedi.

This has happened to the soundtrack tapes of both Wendy Carlos music and some dialogue for Tron, although the music was later recovered by Carlos herself on an old tape. Also like the trims made on 2001 A Space Odissey after the premier, that were misshandled and are now lost forever. Losing audio tracks and film is rather common on film production, and has happened on several ocasions. The first ALTAIR prototype ever built, the first real personal computer, was lost due to a strike at a shipping company in New York City, was misplaced and is now also lost forever.

I cannot believe that a well-labeled master-quality recording does not exist either in the LFL vaults, or in the personal archive of John Williams. I just refuse to accept it, no matter what the official word is.

It must be bollox as I'm sure this track was used on the Return of the Jedi NPR Radio Drama...
From Michael Matessino at Film Score Monthly
Among the source tapes we used for RCA Victor's RETURN OF THE JEDI 2-CD set was the English version of "Lapti Nek," which translates as "Fancy Man," but in multi-track form only. This version was heard in the documentary, "From STAR WARS to JEDI: The Making of a Saga." It would have required a separate multi-track re-mix session for us to create a 2-track version for the CD, and since we were told to drop this song entirely (because it was being replaced in the film by "Jedi Rocks") we left it alone. For STAR WARS and EMPIRE respectively, Tom Voegli at Minnesota Public Radio was sent music sources for the radio shows but he returned them when he was finished with them. At least one of his EMPIRE sources which he returned to Lucasfilm in 1981 pulled a no-show in 1993 for the boxed set. Apart from this, his sources were equivalent to those used for the boxed set, and our goal was to get closer to the original recording, if possible, as well as to locate the missing bits. For the JEDI radio show, Tom Voegli was sent our source material when we were finished with it. But since this was BEFORE "Jedi Rocks" was recorded and his deadline did not allow him to wait for it, he needed some music for Jabba's court. He really wanted the Max Rebo instrumental music, but since we could not find this anywhere, he resorted to extracting the non-vocal tracks from "Fancy Man," mixed them down, and used that in his show.

There is no lingerie in space…
C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Is there perhaps another place rather than RapidShare where I could get this file?
I only have web access at work, and RapidShare won't work for me. Damned if I'm paying them just for this one thing too, especially since there's no guarantee it would work even then.
Alternatively, would some kind soul be willing to upload it to yousendit.com for me? I know that works. My email is bindibadgi at gmail.com.
I hate asking for things in this way, but now you've all gone and got me interested and I've gotta have that file!

Hmm, I never knew that Lapti Nek meant Fancy Man.
I always thought it meant "Workin' Out." But the Wookieepedia says it's "Work It Out," and cites Insider 67. Never heard "Fancy Man" before. Perhaps that interpretation should be mentioned on the Wookieepedia discussion page.

Hey, here's a pretty-good source for the lost Max Rebo songs:
http://maxreboband.weebly.com/
Although it's been mixed from different sources and somtimes cut very roughly, it's the best version of both, Lapti Nek and the other song I've ever heard. Thank you for the Link.

Are one of these the song you’re looking for?

The first one’s called Galactic Dance Blast.
The second is called Sail Barge Dance or Jabba’s Sail Barge.
The music for this was lost, but this is a remastered version from the movie, and it’s the best edit of the song I’ve found on Youtube. You can download either of them here: http://convert2mp3.net/en/
(Just paste the Youtube link in)

Yeah, but they’re still all distorted badly. I’m surprised nobody has remade them from scratch.
