Twin Peaks Pilot - Alternate Ending? (Released)

Hey Everyone,

I’m trying to track down the original version of the “Twin Peaks” pilot movie that actually wrapped up the story at the end of it.

I hear it was released on VHS in Japan once upon a time. If anyone has any info on whether this version might be floating around out there somewhere, I’d be most grateful.

Thanks!

One would hope that the big collection boxset that's coming out towards the end of the year will include this.

One would hope, but one would have hoped that they'd have gotten their shit together before this.

Apparently there's rights issues around the pilot vs. the series. And then there's FIRE WALK WITH ME and the deleted scenes there....

My family has this on VHS. I'm not willing to sell/trade it, but it would be a nice thing to back up...

Thanks for all the info, folks. I didn't realize there was a big Twin Peaks box set coming out. Would that imply they've sorted out the rights issues between the pilot and the rest of the series? Interesting...

The issue before was that Artisan had the rights to season one (minus the pilot) and Paramount had everything else. Now all the rights have reverted back to Paramount, so there are no rights issues anymore.

Weird, I was sure both versions of the Pilot were available on the UK release of Twin Peaks season 1, but I just checked and it's only the broadcast pilot. I'll have to track down the laserdisc of the pilot I guess. What's this about a big Twin Peaks boxset? I knew season 2 was getting a DVD release but never heard of one containing both series and the pilot.

I was wondering, have there been good preservation attempts on Lynch's Industrial Symphony #1, On The Air and Hotel Room? I've seen bootleg DVDs on ebay, but...

I'd really love to get good copies of these Lynch rarities! Do you have any other odds and sorts? I'm very curious to see the Mulholland Drive pilot.

Wow, that'd be awesome! You guys rule!

What other never released on DVD Lynch obscurities are out there? I know there were meant to be compilations of Twin Peaks outtakes and dailies, but I never got my hands on them. Nice to see some sort of Fan DVD of missing bits and pieces once the set has come out, things like the Saturday Night Live sketch which lkely won't make it on there.

I have the On the Air LD set. Was going to do a transfer of it until I heard someone had done it already. Would like to see the transfer to see if it's decent.

The LD transfers of On the Air that are around are pretty good. I'll be damned if that show isn't one of the funniest I've ever seen. If David Lynch ever did an out-and-out comedy (like One Saliva Bubble), it would probably be the funniest thing ever.

Any Lynch fans who haven't heard of/read One Saliva Bubble: Google it and read it immediately. Hilarious.

Sending out ON THE AIR to be torrented.

Beastly, be sure to read RONNIE ROCKET, too. Something about it makes me think that the guy who did DARK CITY read that one.

The other Lynch material arrived over the weekend, too. Huge thank-yous are in order!

Before I star torrenting them, one question for you all -- What do you think: Full DVD uploads, or .avi rips?

Thx!
