This one's a doozy ... much much much more complicated work. It's much longer, and EVERYONE is in it quite a bit ....

With the exception of poor Colin Baker, who for the time being is still "stuck in a time vortex."

You do HEAR Colin Baker in this (I gave him a nice long monologue as a sort of apology for his absence) ... and you see but don't hear David Tennant, so hmm.

There are a few minor errors in this that I'd have liked to fix ... green artifacts on a shot of 9/7/3 ... missing 2 audio ... motion on 10/Brig ... eyes on Rose on a couple shots ... and in fact, I did fix them, but they became unfixed.

The thing is, this version of the trailer has barely made it out for you to see. It got "stuck in a time vortex" itself.

I don't know what's wrong with Final Cut Pro, but I've spent the past day in computer hell (ironically while watching "Inferno" to pass the time) .... the file has gotten corrupted somehow (Final Cut Pro loves to do this to all my big projects eventually) ... it's decided to crash instantly when it opens. The file opens verrry slowly (several minutes, it takes), and then crashes immediately.

I got out a backup version, which was missing a few of the fixes named above. This version also crashes immediately.

However, it doesn't crash so quick that I couldn't export out a full quality video file of it .... after about 12 hours and a dozen tries ....

I'd like to make those little fixes again, but, well .... it crashes the second I click on or do anything.

I'll keep trying. Since I was able to export a full quality PhotoJPEG version, this won't stop me from making a version with Colin Baker in it .... the minute my Nicheflix copy of The Two Doctors arrives .... I've been waiting a week incidentally. Nicheflix is a bit of a scam, saying they'll send you two DVDs at once a la Netflix ... in reality as far as I can tell they lie and only send you one at a time, pretending the mail is simply slow while you're watching the other. Yep.

But that's inconsequential .... anyway ..... I'll keep at it.

It just crashed again while I was typing this .... after a single click. Yep.

ADDENDA: I think Eccleston and McCoy look strangely natural together .... rather like partners on a cop show.

There was supposed to be a lot more of The 2nd Master, but being a villain he's hard to randomly put into shots without explanation. I had another one of him and Tennant which seems to have vanished - he and Tennant look good together as Tennant seems more "on edge" than some others (although .... come to think of it ... Eccleston) ....

Both Romanas kept figuring in shots that "didn't work" too, so far.

There was also supposed to be more of Davison and Rose, and I'm sure there will be. She likes the young ones. Though for some reason I wound up pairing her with Pertwee toward the end .... the older Pertwee from The Five Doctors too. And that seemed to work, like her and Hartnell. I intend to use more of the slightly younger Pertwee (from his own episodes) - he and Troughton are ill-served by using their older selves from, say, The Five Doctors. But you do what you can.

There is a shot of David Tennant in black and white ... in the first trailer I'd intended to show Christopher Eccleston gradually turning black and white as he meets the First Doctor (all in black and white) ... but because I had colorized footage of Hartnell I didn't have to do that. Yet. So that little shot of Tennant is a reference to that.

There's a shot of Davison and Eccleston and in the background you can see some Earthshock-era Cybermen .... which is definitely a reference to the Fifth Doctor's particular connection to those particular baddies ....

Oh, and that's my voice at the end. I tried to do part of it as a Dalek impersonation, but it sounded a bit too silly, like a bad parody. So I just went with the cliche evil voice. I thought the trailer needed a main baddie even as a voice.

ADDENDUM ADDENDUM:

I wasn't able to retrieve any more data from my corrupted version of the trailer ... sad since there was a LOT of half-finished shots I was working on ....

But I was able to do some little fixes just using the PhotoJPEG version of the edited trailer which I retrieved ... fixing most of what I wanted to fix.

So I'm uploading that version as the DivX file now.
