One of my Fav movies. I watched it just the other day.

This post reminded me of my excitement when I heard the Original unaltered trilogy was coming out on dvd before GL crushed my dreams by not making them anamorphic.


According to this article on a french website, the Z2 french dvd's of the OT will be anamorphic with 16/9 compatibility.

I don't know about that..... I see this upcoming DVD release as a sign that Lucas is beginning to soften a bit. I really do think he's testing the waters, to see if those of us who've been screaming for the OOT, are willing to put our money where our mouths are. the news on Excessif.com says that the french versions (region 2) of the dvds will be 16/9! it also says that FoxFrance has confirmed the news... i really don't know what to think about this, i'm waiting for more info...

They say it´s confirmed by Fox because of the fan protests worldwide and clearly stress that it is seems to be true. I HOPE THIS IS TRUE! If *they* get anamorphic PAL versions, we Germans are going to get them, too! And most probably, everyone else. Oh PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE let this be true!!!!!!

I just can't understand why people don't get it. It can't be in cold blood if he has just been threatened like that. It's self defence. The issue of his character doesn't even need to come into it.

Who are those "supporters of the second version?" It seems everyone hates Greedo shooting. Even before I knew it was altered I thought the revised version made the film look more cheesy and less credible. The bad guys always miss no matter how close they are, how lame.

Take back the trilogy. Execute Order '77

Geez. Who really thought that Han blasting Greedo was bad to begin with? I never did. I mean, his life was on the line, for crying out loud! Han definitely does have a character arc, but I really don't think it's tied into that scene all that much. I mean, do you think the ROTJ Han would put up with that shit either? Or would Yoda in ROTS when he chopped those clones' heads off? It's just common sense and looking out for yourself. But apparently to Lucas it's wrong... unless you're a green Sonic the Hedgehog.

By the way, could anybody post a transcript of the article? I'm interested in reading it.

Yeah, I never thought twice about Han shooting Greedo either. Evidently GL was the only one who did. I just assumed Han was defending himself....
