Interlace problem with Vegas 6.0d

I have been doing some editing on Vegas. I was very happy with the results, everything synch perfectly and looked as I could hope, BUT, I have an interlace issue. How do I get rid of it or prevent it?

Cheers!

What, exactly, is your "interlace issue"? Are you trying to de-interlace?

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.

very simply it's interlaced after I make a copy of my work. I have not tried to de interlace, and least not yet. I have played with some of the controls but to no result.

It could be a number of things. First of all, the project properties might be set to "Interlaced" instead of "Progressive" (Field Order=Progessive, and below that, Deinterlace Method=None - Load the Project into Vegas and click ALT+ENTER to check) , or you could be rendering the video with the "Interlaced" box clicked. What type of video are you rendering to? MPEG? WMV?

The source video is avi, I choose "render as" and I select NTSC DV

Basically, it means it's not progressive.

"under deinterlace it has selected blend fields"

This should be set to "None".

"in filed order I have lower fields first"

This should be set to "None (Progressive Scan)"

"Field Order" refers to which set of lines should be drawn first (the interlacing.) "Lower Field" and "Upper Field" are more commonly referred to as "Bottom Field First" (BFF, odd-numbered lines 1,3,5,7,etc.) or "Top Field First" (TFF, even-numbered lines 0,2,4,6,etc.). I forget when which instances use which order, but if you have to choose one or the other, you are generally better off picking BFF. Of course, you should generate two short videos, one BFF and one TFF, and play it on your intended video device to be sure. The difference is quite dramatic.

I'm confident your "interlacing" issues will be resolved when you do this. (Also, if you are seeing artifacts in the Preview window, make sure you are using the "Good" or "Best" setting. This confused me for the longest time.)

Oops, almost forgot. When you are at the settings for render the actual AVI file, click on "Custom", and make sure the "Field Order" is still set to "None (Progressive)".
