As the transfer is anamorphic and looks very good to me, I don't take an issue with it. Once, I would hear the director/producer/writer's intentions and ask no more questions. However, in light of things like the SEs and the music replacement issue on the Quantum Leap and Northern Exposure DVDs which are there because the creators of the show did not want to pay for the rights to the music, I've come to feel that their word shouldn't deprive me of my preferred viewing experience. I agree, in the case of Aliens, because despite the high-tech storyline, there was an obviously guerilla quality to it (a strange phase in Cameron's career between the offbeat and indie-esque The Terminator and the slick glossy spectalcles like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, True Lies, and especially Titanic, all of which drip Hollywood style from every pore) and grain enhaces that (can anyone say Zulu?). I wish he's supervise an an anamorphic version of The Abyss, though. Ah, well. I'm sure we'll see one someday.
