I don't think the Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a good example. I didn't mind Clint's voice, but Eli Wallach sounds completely different. In the original, he has a gruff sounding voice whereas his new lines sound more like Winnie the Pooh. You could never recreate a good scene with an actor speaking lines in a part 26 (actually more) years after the scene was compeleted.
Why not? I've seen it done seamlessly, such as with the new cut of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", for example.
