As if we really need to see Anakin and Jar-Jar fly to their next destination. As if we really need to know who any other racer besides Sebulba is. Take the movie Cars, for example. They didn't waste time giving a big introductory sequence of every car in the race. They only showed the three that mattered that mattered to the plot.

Hmm, perhaps the distinction you're looking at is purpose. In art, every aspect of a piece is supposed to center around the conceptual and/or emotional focus, blending paradoxical elements such as complexity with simplicity. That focus is what gives every element a purpose in relation to every other element.

Most of those additions (and a number of the scenes that weren't even added) serve no purpose in relation to anything else; they simply hurt the story or some other artistic focus. The scene where they introduce the other racers has no point whatsoever. There's no reason for it. Same thing goes for the endless flyby sequences in the movies. Such things cause people to yawn and lose track of what's going on.

Otherwise, I thought the scene where Anakin was unsure of where to go and then seeing transport taking off from the landing platform held my interest pretty well.
