Wow, you know, it really makes it feel worth it to be a Hyperspace member to be able to see things like that. I mean, wow, clips from 30 year old movies we already own. That's certainly worth paying money for. But what a crappy trailer. "And learn the shocking truth about Darth Vader. 'I am your father.'" Well, I guess I just learned that shocking truth. No need to buy the movie now... I mean, I know everybody knows it, but do they have to trivialize it that much? I don't see any Citizen Kane trailers saying, "And learn the shocking truth behind Rosebud..." followed by an image of... well, I'm not going to ruin it in case somebody doesn't know.
But, anyway, I digress. It was a crappy trailer. They spent more time talking about that damned video game than they did about the theatrical versions. And they made sure to include as many SE shots as humanly possible. "Now more convenient to own!" I really can't understand their contradictory marketing campaigns, especially when it comes to the wonder and amazement of being available separately. Maybe it's just me, but I don't recall any movie company ever bragging about having to buy three movies separately. They usually start raving about movie collections, but I've never seen anybody brag about how wonderful it is to pull them apart. If they're going to market them as being the OOT, then market them as being the OOT. If they're going to market them as being... um, rebellious individualists, then market them that way. Maybe they're just doing it to cover their own asses, so that when people complain, they'll just point to trailers like this and say, "See, we only devoted about five seconds to that part of the trailer," which is probably how much time they devoted to the movies, "so why would you expect it to be that great?" Um, because your evil twin brother marketing campaign tells us to buy them solely because of that.
Uhg, I know, the marketing is probably the most insulting element of this whole fiasco. From the bad-boy hype of "Han Shot First" to their disrespect for the trilogy's greatest moments (they MUST think the PT is better) . . . it’s just . . . insulting.
But, what is their crown jewel to entice customers? The trilogy separated into three individual packages?! How on earth could that fact ever be special to the degree they're promoting it? They should have used the trailer to talk more about the movies if anything. How absolutely blind can they be?
Oh, and did you notice the generic, radio-station DJ they used as the announcer? He tried making everything sound all impressive in his pathetic voice. It was laughable.

I also agree that we should all do what we can to keep cash out of George’s pocket. I just see that SOME (not all) people are being a little intellectually dishonest about all of this. They say that anyone that buys the DVDs in September is a fool and part of the problem. Then these same people rush off to buy Battle Front 2 and Empire at War and place an even larger chunk of cash in GL’s pocket.

I'm not saying that anyone who buys these DVDs is a fool, I just see it, at this point (knowing what we know), to be a bad move unless the money spent is not big deal and the Star Wars trilogy is really that important to you.
Otherwise, giving George money will reward him for giving out crap, but I do not think that causes any problems for us. Even if George Lucas gets less money, that won’t help him change his mind.
From my point of view it’s a basic economic principle only to spend your money on things you want. At this point, I'd rather never see the films again than ever purchase this release. That's the value that I believe everyone else have as well, but if other people feel differently I'm not going to criticize them. George Lucas has effectively destroyed Star Wars for me and that's all.
(Thankfully I still have viewable VHS copies too.)
Oh, and those other products don't bother me if they're good enough. If I want them for the offered price then I'll get them. I don’t care if insane, old George profits from releasing the occasionally good product (he is an impressive business man after all). For example, KOTOR was always enticing. The only reason I never purchase the game was because I knew I wouldn’t have the time to play it and because I like to save my enjoyment of Star Wars for the films only.
