Hi boon!
I watched this a few minutes ago, and I was really stunned what you have done with it! The basement scene was a bit rough I think, but given the source material, I guess it's the best you can get. There is no break in style now during the last third of the movie, which it really benefits from.

I hope you don't mind if I also put down some (constructive) criticism:
For most of the cuts you used fade transitions which was a pretty good idea, but those transitions seemed a little short. You should have made some of them longer, especially at the end, when you jump through time Maybe even add some artificial slow motion...
Not a real point for criticism, but I would have left out the last "10 billions years later" title. The viewer doesn't have to know how much time has passed, it should have been open to the viewer what to make of it. Slow fade to black after the nukes, 2-3 seconds just black and slow fade in to the epilogue. Perfect.
Same with the "hero" ending. No title card, just make a real blurry image.
Also, maybe you should have colour corrected the new inserted scenes, so they won't stand so much out. Or better, colour correct WOTW and leave the inserted scenes in natural colour

I quoted the above part of your posting for a purpose. When I watched the movie, I thought the basement scene (and the ending for that matter!) were a little obvious because there were some breaks in the score. Maybe you should have used an ongoing piece of score instead of fading from one to the other...
The change in music is also very obvious when the aliens die
In the end, if I would do my own fan cut, it would propably look like yours, maybe with some different transitions and a different score for the ending

By the way, could it be that the source for the mountain scene was non-anamorphic? Because it seemed a little bit blurry...
