Those scenes worked because they weren't overplayed. The contrast of the cheering crowd with facepaint to the dead Cedric was stark, but not ridiculously heavy handed. Plus if John Williams had to go, Patrick Doyle was a fantast underrated choice for the new score. I wish that he was doing OOTP. Has anyone heard his excellent work in Henry V? Really strirring stuff.
