I think that it's the fact the the original versions which won Academy Awards, changed cinema, and alter pop culture as we know it are regulated to "bonus material" and nothing more. Quality is the issue most because if the SEs can get the proper treatment, so should the OOT. A few years down the road, 16:9 HDTVs and 5.1 setups will proably become the norm. To a lot of people, OOT are the trilogy and the SEs are sort of a novelty. George, or course, disagrees. Most of us want this beter version because we spend countless dollars over the years supporting the films which we love only to told first that they "don't exist" and then that, because they don't represent George's original visions, that they cannot be restored. Many, many other DVDs present both versions of the films in high quality. I think that if Lucas had just restored and remaster the OOT and released that with the SEs, everything would be fine. Let me phrase it this way: if Lucas released a gorgeously restored version of the OOT and neglected the SEs with a poor release, how would you feel as a fan of the SEs? We want a quality release of the OOT because of the reasons that you mentioned, but also because we just want to be able to watch it in high quality at home. It is Lucas who created most of the reasons that you mentioned (second-class citizens, etc.). Just let me clarify. Are you with us in wanting a high quality release of the OOT or not? Just curious. And welcome. Perhaps you will be of use to us . And I think that the "other" boards are theforce.net. I've never been there though.
