Pirates of the Caribbean Two — Page 4

I just saw 'Pirates 2' last Wednesday, and I found it to be a bit disappointing. The plot was kind of unfocused, and a lot of the action scenes went on WAY too long. 'Pirates 1' was just on TV the other night, and I watched it again, and now I'm sure that I like the 1st one better. It was just creepier and scarier. I much preferred the "skeleton crew" from 'Pirates 1' to Davy Jones' barnacle-encrusted crew, which was just gross. LOL. Jack Sparrow seems to have taken a back seat in this new film as well, which I didn't like.

Are you sure? He was like the main character. If anything, Will Turner took a back seat in most of the film, which is a good thing imo. Anyhoo, I get the feeling Captain Jack won't be in much of the third film, and Will will () become centre stage.

Why's everybody got it in for Will, huh? I think he's pretty cool.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Johnny Depp seemed to have a lot less screen time than he did in the original, and Orlando Bloom seemed to have more than he did in the first film. Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how they 'rescue' Capt. Jack and how they explain it. LOL!

I think it's an anti-Orlando Bloom thing, especially since Bloom no longer has the ensemble Lord of the Rings films coming out every Christmas.

Yeah. Will has the misfortune of being portrayed by a man that fangirls squeal and get all giddy over. It drives everyone else insane, and it turns into a probably-unwaranted vitriol against Bloom himself.

I once knew a girl who actually celebrated Orlando Bloom's freaking birthday.

We celebrate SW's birthday, not much different.

Just like DiCaprio everyone seems to have it in for Bloom. Honestly, I don't think the haters can give any solid reasons why they hate DiCaprio and Bloom, they are both fine actors that have, like any other actors, had maybe one or two bad projects. Can anyone say Harrison Ford and Hollywood Homicide? I don't see any Harrison Ford haters out there belittling him for being in ONE bad movie.

Oh, I saw POTCII again tonight, and despite the fact that we had TWO talkers behind us, a wailing 7 year old who laughed at EVERYTHING, and some crazy pirate people wearing pirate hats and bandanas(which I would have thought was cool had they not come in five minutes in to the movie and made a big ruckuss), I still stand by my conviction that this is a fantastic film.

Actually, I really don't think that Bloom is that talented an actor, although with a bit of refining andtraining, he could easily become an exceptional performer. The fangirls do grow annoying, but that is no reason to hold it against him .

I think if Bloom really wants to prove himself he needs to get away from the big costume adventure films for a while and do some more contemporary stuff - and that's coming from someone who loves the big costume adventure films.

That's interesting reasoning, because part of the reason I'm wondering about the hating of Orlando Bloom is that none of the girls I know seem to find him attractive. They all go after Johnny Depp, which gets extremely annoying, especially when it's my girlfriend.

I don't know how girls could like either of them. They're both annoying and 'blah' at the same time. Johnny Depp really doesn't have anything going for him in the looks department (seriously, I could totally name 10 other guys better looking than him), and Orlando Bloom? *sigh* He's a cookie cutout pretty-boy. We had one in the late 90's called DeCaprio (and he really hasn't done much since). Bloom is just another fad and he just ain't doing it for me.

Thankfully Brandon Routh is hot so my summer isn't a total bust.

Johnny Depp is, however, an exceptionally talented actor.

Yeah, he's a great actor. And he chooses his roles well.

Indeed. Depp could have his own Legion of Fangirls and I'd still watch a Depp movie before Bloom one.

Catch Me if You Can, and The Aviator? Both fantastic films, IMO.

Definitely. I personally don't have anything against DiCaprio. I think he's a very good actor who makes very good films.

I hear that he is exceptional in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? as well.

If the only movie of his you've seen is "fear and loathing in Las Vegas", I could understand how you'd come to that conclusion. Otherwise....LOL!

Out of sheer curiosity, Mielr, are you a girl or no? Don't take it the wrong way. On a forum it's a bit difficult to tell. For we know, there could be people here who are disembodies hands that type.

Or Edward Scissorhands or Ed Wood.
