As I stated in my last post, there have been some that have done amazing work, considering the source material they work with. However, I don't feel that any of them are as good as what Fox will be releasing. Could Fox release a better set than what they are releasing? YES. But I have to believe that their STUDIO PRODUCED dvd is going to be way beyond what we've seen from the fan-made dvd's. How could they not?! They are working with far better sources and FAR SUPERIOR equipment than any of us could hope to use (including the top-of-the-line X0 LD player). I don't say this to knock the X0 project or any other LD transferred dvd, I'm just stating the truth.

I've bought 2 laserdisc players over the last few years (including a top notch Pioneer CLD-97 player) and also have bought no less than 4 copies of the laserdiscs (including a FACTORY SEALED copy of the DEFINITIVE COLLECTION). I've made what I consider to be excellent dvd's and most of my friends and family think they are great. However, there's no way it could compare to what FOX is releasing!

Again, I'm just as disappointed as everyone else on this board that they are not ANAMORPHIC, however I'm not going to fool myself into thinking that I'm not buying these dvd's. I'm sure the money hungry Lucas (or FOX without Lucas being behind them) will release these films again. Probably anamorphic, probably BluRay/HD-DVD, and probably whatever format lies beyond that. In the meantime, I'm going to thoroughly enjoy these films when they are released in September! And so will most of you!!

Thanks for the info. I've also made my own DVDs from a set of factory-sealed "faces" LDs (using a Pioneer CLD-703 which I specifically bought for that purpose). I gave a set of DVDs to my nephew as well, and he was very pleased with them. However.....I will also be buying the 9/12 Fox DVDs, and I'm fairly certain they will blow my homemade DVDs away- even though the Fox DVDs won't be anamorphic.
