Yessss!!! Someone did post this several months ago, but I didn't know where. I actually brought this up recently on another thread, so I'm glad someone else unearthed it. Great seeing it again. Thanks!

lol. That's pretty funny. All they'd have to do would be to destroy Yavin, then the moon would have nothing to orbit around and would go off on some bizarre trajectory through space . . .

Yavin is 2.72 times more massive than Jupiter[1], which in turn makes it approximately 886.7 times more massive than Alderaan was, and the Death Star would have to be about 10,000 times more powerful than what was seen in the destruction of Alderaan.[2] Additionally, the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels descibes the DS1 as requiring several hours to recharge after firing its Superlaser[3], which would have made it a sitting duck in front of the Rebel base during that period.
