Some people mentioned that they don't see the appeal to these films. The fact is Pirates are cool, and a rarity. It isn't that people had nothing better to do, it was very highly atticipated. I can't remember the last a good pirate movie came out before Pirates of the Caribbean. In fact the only other Pirate movie I can think of that came out in recent years is Muppets Treasure Island, and being a Muppet movie and all, I don't think it counts. A lot of people have a facination with pirates, a lot of women have a facination with Johnny Depp and/or Orlando Bloom, and a lot of guys don't mind seeing Keira Knightley for 150 minutes. Add those together and you have got some pretty good appeal.

I still haven't seen this yet, I want to but then I don't. I really hate waiting another year to see the end. I'll probably go see it in a few days anyway. I wasn't very excited abou it, but a lot of you guys are saying you really enjoyed it, and it is making me more interested in seein it myself.

The reason I liked the first one so much was that it was as close as we will ever get to a movie adaption of Monkey Island (one of my favorite games of all time). I also couldn't help noticing from the trailer of Dead Man's Chest how many aspects of it related to Monkey Island 2.
