I had always read that there was a Korean "rental only" laserdisc that had no subtitling and was dual language, but I could be wrong. It may be Chinese. The Japanese laserdisc is dual language and it's quite hilarious the hear Uncle Remus and the rest of the characters speaking Japanese.

I've never heard of a Korean LD, just the Japanese one (one of the jewels of my collection) and the Hong Kong one, which from what I can tell was a rental-only disc and extremely rare.

I made a cover designed after the Walt Disney Treasures DVD collection. But I must now sheepishly admit that I don't know how to post a preview of it.

I could e-mail to someone for them to post, or someone could PM me the instructions. Please.

Jmoomer, send me an email with it, I'll host the preview and link to a permanent downloadable source (if that's OK with you !) and send you the instructions of how you can do the same in future

Here we go - well worth the wait !

This is obviously just a preview - Jmoomer has said its about 97% done, so any minor flaws will be picked up in a final sweep, though any feedback would be appreciated.

I think it's a winner !

Looks awesome!

Minor suggestions:

In the description, is Br'er Bear really the sidekick of Br'er Rabbit? Running time should be 94 minutes. Can some room be left for disc features?

This cover is even more inspiration to create a new release!

Ok I am confused. Is some one creating a new preservation or are we talking exsisting preservations?

Okay, so here's the story with the cover. I made it about two years ago, and I lost the files one year ago with a hard drive crash. Maybe I have it backed up somewhere, but I don't think I do. What you're looking at is a scan of MY cover that I cleaned up in Photoshop so it doesn't look like a scan. Or, at least, not too much like a scan.

So, I can make changes, but not too many. For example, I forgot the fonts that I used (I'm sloppy, I apologize), so I can't make too many changes to the text. That being said, I think the bit about Br'er Bear and Rabbit came directly from the PAL video release. So, even if it's wrong, it's true disney propaganda. And I rounded the runtime up to "Approx. 95 minutes" because all the Treasures releases have very vague runtimes. I tried to ape the Treasures cases as much as possible in design and content.

Now, the Treasures cases don't list featurettes, which is why I list none on this case. But I should probably remove the bit about "The product being authorized" anyway. Would that be enough room? The Maltin and Disney signatures should also probably go. I know I wouldn't want my John Hancock on something I didn't approve. BUT I LIKE having the signatures there. Shame on me.

I'll try to adjust to everyone's needs, but it's a lot harder to do with a scan than the actual file. I don't really have time to recreate it. But hopefully enough people out there like it. That being said, I did a similar Treasures cover for Captain EO. Which I also lost. But could rescan.

JM (who is gonna start backing stuff up now)

How about losing the Disney/ Maltin/ timeline thingy? Then expand the entire box to the bottom. This will loosen things up and make room for a disc features section. Also, maybe change the region logo to "0".

What do you think?

Did one of these get uploaded to demonoid or some other torrent yet?

Certainly one on Demonoid at the moment - which of the above it is, I do not know !

(I might d/l and find out - for research purposes !)

Here is a link to what the Disney Treasures covers look like. As you can see, it's sparse, but it matches about 15 other DVD's on my shelf. I'll make some changes for fttes when I get a chance, but this cover is designed for those people who want a Walt Disney Treasures cover.

If I can find my PAL UK video cover (it's somewhere, I know it), I can make a more traditional cover outta that.

The version currently seeded on Demonoid is the Coal Black Easter Egg version - that's featured at the top of Page 4.

Bizarrely though, I've yet to find the Coal Black Egg - even letting the film run through to the end !

I'm just gonna tell you, because otherwise you'll neverrrr find that thing. I don't remember exactly, but basically, you play the movie, and as it's playing, you manually enter in either "13" or "14" to go directly to that chapter, and that brings up the easter egg.

Does anyone out there have any other SOTS trailers besides the 1972 Television Trailer and the 1986 Theatrical Trailer seen on the “Coal Black Easter Egg” release? I'm pretty sure I saw a VHS tape quite a number of years ago that had the 1973 double feature trailer featuring SOTS and The Aristocats from a small public domain company called Amvest Video. I thought I had it, but cannot seem to locate it.

Phew - cheers for that. I'd never have found it on my own (indeed it's chapter 14 and I could only access it from my PC, not even my stand-alone player ! - that's an Easter Egg !)

I finally remembered how to get to the Coal Black easter egg without entering a chapter number:

Select "Ev'ry Body's Got A Laughin' Place" in the 1946 Johnny Mercer radio plug. While that song is playing, select it again.

Thanks for the cover. Anything is better than the ones I've found. Would still like to see a Disney Treasures cover. Pretty much as is shown above would be fine. Knightmessenger and Suntech, I believe we're all talking about a rip that's on the "noid" from a previous fan disc.
