Madine. I knew I forgot someone. Of course, given the way the Alliance handed out GO commissions in RotJ, he was probably just some guy who found Princess Leia's wallet and returned it or something like that.

I have to agree with scruffy, even if I don't care what color lukes underwear was though my vote would be white to offset his black outfit. If all we were to discuss was the preservation then that would be the only forum we would need. Instead, Jay has given his site the means to expand and grow which is what makes a successful site. I don't see ot.com turning in tf.n mainly because Jay is obviously not a Lucas fanboy. He's not going to gear this site in the same way that the webmasters of tf.n have done.

I guess I need to clarify for myself why I have been bringing up many threads pertaining to the TFn and the diehard PT fans and how it effects us. This is why we are in the position we are in now is because there is a diehard fanbase who loves the SE and Lucas is catering to it.

Hmm, that makes me somewhat depressed to think about. George does seem to be turning the Star Wars universe into something along the lines of a cheesy, comic-book universe. It basically seems to exist for the purpose of making a quick buck and then anything of artistic merit is quickly forgotten or replaced with something new to make a new quick buck. Will such a focus be able to exploit Star Wars fans indefinitely or will we eventually catch on?

Anyways, I needed no sites like this to persuade me of how the PT and the special editions sucked. I came to that conclusion completely on my own.

Well, truthfully, I really tried to enjoy the PT and I really did want to love them, and I sort of did at first, but then with repeated viewings they became worse and worse. Ultimately each time I saw the PT it only attempted to ruin my experience of the Star Wars universe in general.

And, truthfully, I did like the Special Editions at one time, and could have even forgiven Hayden as the force ghost of Anakin in RotJ if only I had been granted access to the OT as well and alongside. As it is, George seems to have decided that the best use of his power is destroying the OT and erasing it from all memory. Sadly, I then have to take sides in such a battle and now it's completely the fault of George Lucas that I hate his special editions too. I actually once thought they were good and may watch them again someday if George can give his fans what they want.

If I had to guess, even most of the “PT-gushers” would like to have access to the OT in its original form and would pay GL good money for it. Why doesn’t GL see that?

Well, that's what I've always adhered to. ^_~

And, yeah, Scruffy beat me to it, but that's pretty much exactly what I was planning to post. This is the general Star Wars section of the board, where we can talk about anything Star Wars-related. Speaking of generals, I love that wallet comment about Madine.* Remember when it was first announced that the OOT would be released, and we had about 15 nearly-identical threads talking about it? I'd say this is much more entertaining.

*According to the Rogue Squadron game, at least, Madine was an Imperial defector... who rescued Princess Leia's wallet.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Asskissing? First off, I can state my opinion whatever it may be just as you can. Second, just what is the reason for me to asskiss? Oh, there is none. Third, everyone knows, THX, that Jay doesn't wear any.

I was just looking at the TFN forums... I don't know how to describe that place. Everyone there's a little f***ed up. I see a lot of 400+ page discussions trying to justify some simple mistake so that it fits in with the story. I didn't see one person bring up, "Uh... maybe GL just didn't think this through all the way". Bam! Problem solved. End of discussion.

And what's worse is that they all accept the PT as part of Star Wars. I'm sure a lot of you do, too. But no one I talk to considers it to be a part of the saga. It's garbage, plain and simple. But they seem to think complete ignorance is the true sign of a fan... Sometimes plot holes are just plost holes.

Well, I'm off to flame them until I get banned.

Yeah. And things the 500 page topic talking about how great Ian McDiarmid was in the movies.

And then there's thing like this... It's by a guy called 'darthsith19':

I was reading the best moment in AOTC thread today and I wondered to myself 'What is the worst moment in AOTC?'

I really can't think of one...

Holy shit.

EDIT: Just found this. Lost the page, so I forgot who wrote it:

5 out of 6 Movies had Bad Acting Skills. the Exception was AOTC.

I'm pretty sure none of these people have seen AOTC...

I'm sure this has been trampled to death already, but let me add my voice to the chorus in pointing out that Lucas has practically driven die-hard fans mad with his pathological de-mystifying of the OT. To wit: after the PT, the Force is no longer a 'mystical energy field', it's now some wacko sentient microorganisms controlling the 'balance' of good and evil in the universe. Oh, that shows so much faith in divinity, doesn't it?

I have similar sentiments concerning the Anakin/Darth redemption issue, and the replacing of Sebastian S. with Hayden C. at the end of ROTJ in order to 'correct' the continuity or whatever, but I'll post more extensively on that in the appropriate thread. In short, the way it plays out in the SE, Lucas' understanding of redemption is proven to be rather goofy at best, and that really undermines a lot of the power of the epic story's conclusion.

Good Lord . . . those can't be a serious posts. If they are then I'm made sick to read them. It actually makes me lose a little bit of hope for humanity.

Something's a joke. Either it's the posts or the posters but something is.

Heck, I've forgotten AOTC, and I'm glad.

I know I keep going on about TFN, but I was just reading another post asking which was the better love story, Anakin/Padme or Han/Leia... I'm sure you know where this is going.

my favorite romance is now without a doubt Anakin and Padme.. Their story has more of an emotional impact. The forbidden love. The secrecy. They have a deep special love for each other, and the outcome of their love is so heartbreaking. In the reunion scene Anakin can hardly keep his hands off her, risking being seen because he has to hold her, kiss her...

And that post isn't unique. The vast majority of them are for Anakin and Padme. I'm seriously starting to think that the people over there watched a different set of movie than me.

Wow. It seems you can get perma-banned from the site for saying that you don't plan on watching the PT again. That was it. The last straw. I've argued with one of the guys from the site all day. No luck.

Granted, I knew I'd get banned eventually. But I hadn't really even said anything yet.

You have to be kidding. You must be kidding. That's... the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

You know what? I'm never going to watch The First Wives' Club again. Sigh, I guess I'd better wait for you guys to ban me now, because apparently not watching a movie is all it takes to get your keister kicked off of message boards.

Stupid fascists!

I see no reason for someone who posts "I never plan on watching the PT again" to even be posting in the PT forums.

The comment in question was in a topic talking about the whole series. It asked which order you like to watch them in. I think I said I usually only watch it 4-6 and threw in that comment. I held back because explaining why would make me sound like I'm just there to troll (the PT ruined a lot of characters for me, it ripped a bunch of plot hole into the story, ruins most of the surprises, it makes me hate Star Wars, etc.).

I said worse stuff than that, but I'm just surprised that that was what did it. Nothing I posted on there was even that bad. Pretty tame stuff, overall. I think I only had about 5 or 6 posts on there. But they said "This user account and its posts since registering set off bells and whistles for us".

Well, at least that explains why everyone there loves the PT so much. Seems everyone else was banned...

EDIT: If he had said "Trolling. 3 day ban. Read the rules" I probably would have been fine with it. But this just sounds like "Enh... I don't like your tone. Bye bye".

Gosh- the way they act over there you'd think it was the official Star Wars forums or something. They aren't even affiliated with Lucasfilm, so what's with the communist-style censoring and banning?
