And they might have changed it not because of fan protest. I think that if Lucasfilm wants to be remembered as a great companyo f special effects and modern technology, they can't have this mark on thier permanent record. They released a movie in non-anamorhpic. For god sakes, I've seen dvd's of not very well known comedians on DVD in anamorphic. Five buck DVD's at wal-mart are anamorphic. Lucasfilm would become a laughing stock if they did this, and it would just show the world how crazy Lucas is. So they made an anamorphic transfer.

If this pertains to the states as well, then I'm extatic. Some of you have just found new things to complain about--no remastering--but I'm content with an anamorphic transfer. My bootlegs look very good (in my book) as it is, so I don't neccesairly need a remastering, though it'd be darn cool to have one. (Though I'd like them to leave in some grain---it makes me remember that this is a film.) And I don't care about a 5.1 track at all. Stereo is fine by me. It'd also be cool for them to include the mono track. (Monty Python and the Holy Grail did it, so why can't Star Wars?)

Star Wars would be an awesome 5.1 experience. Plus, the 70 mm six-track could become 5.1. It would be an awesome experience. I agree that that the 2.0 and mono should be included, however.
