This movie has made so much money, but I don't understand what the big draw is. I mean, I saw the first movie but I wasn't all that impressed. I was at a sleep over with a friend 2 years ago when I saw it, but there you go. And this movie just seems to be raking in the fans but again...I must just not be into pirate movies or Johnny Depp. Same thing with Lord of the Rings. I saw the movies in the theater but that was it. I don't own the DVDs nor do I really care about Orlando Bloom.

Pirates and Wizards. Whatever.

a) Pirates are cool
b) A good pirate film hasn't come out in decades
c) It intermixed horror themes
d) It was Orlando Bloom's next film after Lord of the Rings (and I think people wanted to see if he could pull it off outside of Legolas)
e) It had Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom for the womens, and Keira "hotness" Knightley for the lads
f) Johnny Depp's characterisation of Jack Sparrow was outrageously funny and larger than life
g) Geoffrey Rush is a brilliant character actor as well
h) the first movie was just a plain good film
i) Nostalgia related to the old Disneyland ride of the same name (which I thought was crap, but the kids probably loved it so anyone who rode it as a child would still have fond memories of it)

Now, I'm not saying you have to agree with all these points, but it should be easy to understand why it did so well and spawned a few sequels.
