Lucas talks about the Sept 12th Release of the O-OT — Page 3

What address should we send them to? Should we send them to the Jim Ward address?

So, I guess we're not sending the discs back in one package? We're just each going to send them separately?

Of course you should send them separately. We're being forced to purchase them separately, after all.

I myself am still undecided on whether I should buy them or not. The SE discs could always function as coasters or frisbees.
I have a bad feeling about this...

That would be a terrible waste. Sending them back to George Lucas would make much more sense. Let him use them for frisbees or coasters.

Hmm, good question. Jim Ward could be the one who would actually understand the message best, since it seems like he has more sympathy for the OT fans.

My accompanying message will be brief I think. "Thanks, but no thanks." Maybe a P.S. of, "Give the theatrical releases better treatment next time."

Looks like either George or Ward. And I doubt that Lucas answers or even opens his own mail. But Ward, on the other is probably the one that we should target. Of course I could always just drop them off at the Presidio.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

surely the new DVD's only need to outsell the 2005 repackaging rather than the original 2004 to send out a clear message as to which version of the movies the public wants, although I'm sure if they do make record sails George will say it's all due to the fact they're being offered individually for the very first time.
personally I think he's bowing to pressure from his Marketing Department who are saying he'll now have 3 trilogies to milk dry with endless reissues.

They might not outsell, and if I'm going to get them, which I probably will, I'm going to not leave any wiggle room for them to see which version I prefer.

He may be getting some pressure from 20th Century Fox as well. I'm sure they remember which version of the trilogy saved their collective behinds.

More power too you. It appears that, even after our long hard battle, the fight for the OOT is still far from over, and is a waiting game
yet again.

"But we're not sure how many people want that."

Just ask. This is not the only message board where fans prefer the OOT.

"Now we'll find out whether they really wanted the original or whether they wanted the improved versions," he said. "It'll all come out in the end."

Let's hope he gets the message and fans do not disappoint him.

The purpose of the mail-back is to negate the idea you might be buying the set for the '04 discs (I know, I know). It's like registering a vote for the OUT.

All the ads for Amazon list "easter egg-credit roll" as a feature of these new DVDs- what the heck are they talking about? Are those new easter eggs or are they also on the 2004 discs? The only easter egg I was aware of from the 2004 set was the one on the bonus disc, of the DVD credits/blooper reel.

Maybe George took my cue and moved the new Emperor dialogue from ESB to ANH.

The "what are you going to do with your SE discs thread has info on that. How many people are involved time 3 discs per person. I'd love it if Lucas actually opened the package.

You would think.

Aren't catch 22s fun?

When the '04 DVDs were originally announced, many sites listed that each movie disc featured an "easter egg credit roll". Perhaps it's a mistake leftover from the '04 announcement, or maybe Lucasfilm did re-edit the credit roll for each individual film.

Releasing the OOT and SEs simultaneously in two separate packages would've provided the information he seeks.

That didn't happen specifically because the OOT would've at least gone head-to-head with the SEs in terms of sales, and his fragile ego couldn't handle that.

Lets hope that you're right.

Sales of late seem to indicate that you weren't that far off.
