Lennon, to me, always seemed a bit too hyped up.

Maybe I haven't listened to enough of his music, but what I did listen to was good, maybe great, but not fantastic.

Lennon alone, by himself, did some good things like Imagine, but he was very hit and miss, mostly miss. Yoko Ono seemed to drag him into mediocre projects. Paul McCartney also did some good things, but he seemed to have lost some of his old touch. Lennon AND McCartney were THE best composers of rock music. Period. I challenge you to find someone better than the two. Some could have been as good as them. Maaaaybe Brian Wilson if he didn't become a complete fruitcake. Maaaybe Roger Waters could if he hadn`t become a heartless greedy bastard. Maaaybe Eric Clapton could, but nah. Not even close. Freddy Mercury did good arrangements and sang very well. That's it. He was a show man.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

A real guilty pleasure would be a band like Helmet or the Bullet Boys. Something nobody will admit to owning in their collection, but they nonetheless enjoy in the closet. Queen, John Lennon, those are icons, not guilty pleasures.

HotRod, A Ha is definitely in that guilty pleasure camp.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

"You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia'."
