SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW

Time
OKAY, SO I WENT TO THE PREMIER LAST LAST NIGHT. I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS MOVIE LIVES UP TO THE HYPE. I WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE MOVIE SCORE. JOHN OTTMAN DID A FANTASTIC JOB OF INCORPORATING JOHN WILLIAMS' ORIGINAL SCORE. THE OPENING CREDITS EVEN HAD A THROW BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SUPERMAN MOVIES. THE CAST DID A FANTASTIC JOB, AND AT TIMES BRANDON ROUTH EVEN LOOKED AND SOUNDED LIKE CHRISTOPHER REEVE. ALL-IN-ALL THIS WAS A GREAT FILM. GO OUT AND SEE IT.

P.S.

THE SPIDER-MAN 3 TEASER TRAILER WAS ATTACHED TO THE FILM.

Dayv, could someone who hasn't seen Superman 2 enjoy and understand the film?

From what I know of the logical inconsistencies in the plot even someone who HAD seen S2 wouldn't be able to understand it. Well maybe a bit better so than anyone who had ever read a Superman comic...

EDIT: But then again I'm a cynical nearing middle-age man who has no fingers on the pulse of modern sensibilities so I should be disregarded at all costs.

I did NOT like this movie. It'll be a shame if it's boxed with the others (even considering the throwaway quality of 3 & 4) when it comes out in a super set this fall. The movie had no wit and energy. The characters were like cardboard cut outs. And the story was BOR-RING. I think it's cool that Bryan Singer tries to help new, young talent get their feet wet, but maybe he should look into more whether they are actually talented, and can WRITE worth a fuck. And if he does think they can write, which I guess is obviously the case by this time and history with them, I am worried. At least the Spidey movies are decent. Modern blockbusters BLOW!

Is anyone gonna write a good story for a movie anymore that is acted well enough to make people care? Hollywood can suck it!

I haven't seen any of the old films and I got it so hey, I thought it was cool how they got Marlon Brando back in it.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE. I LOVED THE NARRATION THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE. IT WAS LIKE THE WHOLE PETER PARKER/UNCLE BEN THING IN SPIDER-MAN.

Last I checked, there are several of us. Just some (me) not as gitty as others (you).

Two words on Superman Returns... Friggin' Awesome.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

'nuff said.

I was truly afraid I was mentally overhyping it and I would be let down. That typically happens to me. That was not the case here. No letdown whatsoever. If you want an extended review. Check my blog.

Feel free to leave comments so readers of my blog who don't come here can hear more positive things about it. Or you can even leave bad reviews. I don't mind them.

Just no spoilers. Please.

I just came back from seeing the movie and I am in TOTAL LOVE WITH SUPERMAN. No seriously. I'm not even a Superman fan, but I am sure as hell a fan of this movie. And you gotta love the new actor. God is he hot. I was so in love with him the whole time I sat in the theater.

I won't put any spoilers or anything, but I was crying like a bitch at the end. This was a fantastic movie. Way, way better than Superman I and II (and personally III and IV don't exist for me). Oh man, was this a kick ass movie. First Batman Begins, and now Superman Returns. My happy meter is now officially maxed out. Go see this movie everyone so we can talk without spoilers.

I saw it yesterday, but I wasn't in a very good mood and had a lot on my mind. I thought it was fantastic though, and plan on going to see it again pretty soon.
