I had the same problem with The 6th Sense. For me it was the fact that HJO’s mom never noticed Bruce Willis. No look, no howdy, nothing. As a parent I can tell you that anytime I find my child in a room with an adult I acknowledge that adult. Just think about it; you walk into a room and see your son sitting there with some guy you don’t fucking know and you aren’t even going to make eye contact with the guy? That dog won’t hunt.
I do like M Knight’s movies for the most part. I enjoyed The 6th Sense despite knowing the “twist” early. I really enjoyed Signs and Unbreakable was good. The Village was ruined for me because one of my friends told me about the “twist” before I saw the film. That being the case I must recuse myself from passing judgment on that film.
