Its a safe bet that some of these materials will never appear on any sony released format again due to this issue.

I know what you mean, I remember in recent interviews that either Reitman, Ramis or Ackroyd said that everyone wanted to make a 3rd Ghostbusters film (even Murray) but the studio could not see a big enough profit in it.
