Absolutely ! On my TV the letterboxed dvds leave VERY visible gaps between the scan lines. I avoid wherever possible. It kind of spoils the viewing because I know it's there and I know if it were anamorphic I wouldn't see it.
No idea why LucasFilm couldn't spend a day reencoding this to an anamorphic ratio. But I'm sure the fan edits will look better on my TV than the official version.
