Sorry for bringing this thread ever-so-slightly-back-on-topic, but I have been dabbling with getting my fairly extensive UK VHS collection backed up onto DVD using a VHS player and a LiteOn DVD Recorder with the Macrovision block disabled.

Read a bit about it in this thread.

There are a few more details here.

However, a VHS transfer does not look as good as any of the properly transfered LaserDisc releases out there.
