Thanks for the tease guys.... now you've made me want this release even more. But patience is a virtue, and I have no doubt you aren't going to release anything until it meets your astronomically high standards.

Web Doc 2 does look great! I'm curious though, has the starfield been "recovered" on these shots or would that be done at the same time as the color correction? Or is the "starfield recovery" considered to be apart of the color correction process?

The reason I ask is the starfield looks dim and you can see stars blinking in and out....also the black level of the starfield doesn't look as crisp and black as the examples given in the "starfield recovery" article on the X0 website.....

Any thoughts?

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

The thing about the starfield recovery - on this first go we are not going to do any "fixes" such as star recovery and garbage matte removal. The point of this first release will be to have a high quality transfer of the LD. The color correction will bring the stars out quite a bit, as will the implementation of SC footage. But the actual starfield recovery procedures we discussed on the site will not be done until we do a kind of Darth Editous/Mverta style of cleanup later on.

Oh, that's right....my bad....you have said this before...I remember now......

well now I have two seperate releases to look foward too....the restored color corrected X0 transfer, which will be the new stardard for everyone else...

and the ultimate X0 "dark force edition" later on.....sigh....I hate waiting.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Not saying you should do starfield recovery on the first go'round, but I'd place stars and garbage mattes into two distinct categories of fixes.
Garbage mattes were on the film (yes, I understand they were less visible on the silver screen comapared to 7.5 IRE video) but the stars didn't disappear until they slipped between the cracks of the NTSC scan lines.

Keep up the good work !

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Awesome guys. I can't wait. But I think I agree with Darth Mallwalker on the whole starfield thing. Because they vanished due to the NTSC scanlines. But I really shouldn't be judging, thats for your guys decisions lol.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but what's the outlook for all 3 movies guys? Are you mainly looking at just doing Star Wars in time for the release in Sept and possibly the others at a later date? Or have you scratched Empire and Jedi all together?

Well......I may just do the first and last thirds of ROTJ, and skip Leia and the ewoks altogether...

Seeing the capture of Vader's head, I couldn't believe the difference between the HLD-XO and the CLD-D704...WOW! I actually have a CLD-D703 (which is identical to the 704 except for the RF output) and it made me feel like chucking it in the garbage! (well, not really). Until I saw the capture from the XO, I actually thought my LD player had a pretty good picture.

A question:

Will you be using any shots from the Special Edition NTSC laserdiscs, since so many of the shots in those versions have been cleaned up, and have the matte lines removed ? Not talking about the "altered" scenes of course, just the scenes that are identical to the OOT except for the fact that they've had the grime removed and the matte lines erased. (Like the snowspeeder scenes in ESB- they look a lot better in the SE because there's less transparency in the speeders, due to the fact that they were trying to hide matte lines in the original versions).

No, though the biggest reason for not doing this is that we would need captures of those LDs as well, and that may not be an easy thing to get, since it is not our LD player.

"6 seconds", despite its name, is actually going to be a very long download. People looking for flash and pizazz are probably going to be disappointed. I seriously doubt that even the most interested fans will watch it more than once. Nonetheless, it's a great way to look over my shoulder and watch the correction process of a single 6-second scene from beginning to end (which took longer around 15 minutes.) I added music to make it a little more interesting, but the process itself takes place in a very quiet office (save for the many fans of my two computers.) Sometimes, you may not even be able to see exactly what I'm fixing, because I'm looking at pin-prick sized glitches, or very faint "splotches", and the camera is too far back to show you what I'm doing.

Maybe I'm a fanatic and a little crazy when it comes to the X0 project but I would be willing to watch ANYTHING
that has to do with the X0 project.....it really doesn't matter....it's all good...

Not to bitch, although I know it sounds that way, but I thought that we might be getting to see your work via mpeg screen grabs and not with a video camera?
Please don't take that as complaining......but I thought that was mentioned before....

In any case, thanks for all your hard work, MeBeJedi.....

Well, this was my very first demo...it's just taken a long time to get it out. I really don't feeling like redoing all those corrections. Sorry.

For legal reasons then. I get it now. Thanks.

It doesn't have anything to do with legal reasons.

Sorry, I misunderstood then. I thought someone mentioned something about the fact that since he OOT is "out of print" (until September, anyway) then it's more of a gray area in terms of duplicating it.

One question: how will these be made available (if at all)? Only to Paypal contributors, or through torrents, blank discs, etc.? Just curious.
