... this must be the wrong thread to ask this but...

since you have provided the sector number for layer break for burning DL disks on the nfo file. how did you find out the right change point? and when i have a release that is not an image file (VIDEO_TS folder), how do i find out the sector number? or do i even have to find out when using nero?

sorry for asking this kind of question here but no one else seems to have the answer for it.

Citizen, will you finish ROTJ?

Your single and dual layer NTSC versions of ANH and ESB are the only versions that I've ever gotten, and I'm still looking forward to your ROTJ. Thanks.

Hmmm... I'm starting to wonder who bumped off Citizen...

Either someone from the X-Ø team, or someone from LucasArts would be my main guesses...

Hehe, well, if he ever does get around to finishing this set, it will hands down be the best transfer set currently out there.

Thanks for all your efforts!

^^ what are you talking about??? It takes a while to finish stuff like this. Espcially the way he is doing it. Well anywho once the trilogy is finished I'm very interested in getting the whole Trilogy in NTSC DL format.

These are truly stunning gang, the DL DVD's and the XVIDS are the sweetest yet. I'll be doing a torrent re-release of these DVD's in about a month or so (IV & V anyway) they will be going out in the next seeder packs !

SO, If I had to pick the best OT NTSC versions...

Best Transfer Quailty - Citizen's OT (waiting for Jedi )
Best Features - The EditDroid OT

Best Anamorphic - Citizen's OT
Best Letterboxed - The EditDroid OT

Huh - I didn't realize you've already posted Citizen's stuff, Rikter; I kept checking the spleen (till the went temporarily broke, they should be back up soon) and didn't find 'em.

Does anyone (Citizen?) have hard details on how the Xvid enlargement was accomplished?

I'm working on a laserdisc transfer I'd like to make anamorphic, but I'm trying to figure the best way to enlarge the picture safely.
Usually I just plug in a Lanczos4 filter, but I'm curious as to Citizen's method.

Was the capture performed at a higher resolution?
I know I read something here in the thread about multiple resizes with different filters, I'd love to see the script for that.

I checked and Citizen hasn't posted on these boards since just after the Sept OT DVD's were announced in early May, and his last few posts sounded very disillusioned, which is a real shame. Try emailing him, there is an email address in his sig.

Disappointing.
Especially since that's also how I would describe my RotJ.
I was hoping his would replace what I have on my bookshelf.

And we all know that his Xvids will be later used by somebody to generate HD-DVD/BluRay.
Sort of a shame he used Xvid instead of AAC (which IS supported by hi-def discs).

...I'm just a few days away from completing my ROTJ transfer and then we get this bombshell. I'm extremely pissed off at Lucas for pulling this crap, he kept on releasing the OOT on VHS with the slogan that it would be the last chance to own it, then he added all that CGI crap and denied the OOT still existed, now he's releasing it on DVD.

...

I'm going to finish my ROTJ transfer just so my trilogy is complete but after that I'm done with SW LD stuff, my US definitive box set, my German set and my French set cost me a lot and I don't think I'd get much money for them on eBay now so they'll just be packed away like the ark of the covenant in Raiders. Will I buy the DVDs later this year? "baa baa"....

I am hoping he will follow through.

But XviD is a video codec and AAC is an audio codec? Perhaps you meant AVC/H.264.

H.264 was in early development when Citizen did his version.
XviD is a stable, high-quality choice for MPEG-4 video encoding.

Anyway, the point is that Citizen's XviD was not made for HD players, it was made for playing on a PC connected to a 1024x768 native resolution projector.

Doh and doh. Yes, I meant AVC and you're right, it was still (and arguably IS still) immature as a codec when Citizen was starting out.
Nevermind the idiot typing at this keyboard.

Still, there's nothing wrong with a good AVC video on a PC now.
Xvid may be more mature and better for PC playback, but I think AVC will prove to have longer legs having been incorporated into HD-DVD and Blu Ray specs.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!
