Honestly, I don't think it's going to be as bad as people make out. What will wind up happening is that people will be calling customer support at their providers 24/7 and setting up service calls. These consistent calls are going to wind up costing the providers so much money that they will naturally phase out the source of the problem.
At an extreme... You want to know what this could result in? More competition for the telco's stranglehold on broadband access. If this causes enough of a headache, people will start to develop truly independent networks that will receive funding from some of these sites that are being misrepresented by the telcos. And you will have people sign up for service with them. If it gets bad, I'd do it.
