I hate that bit. Not because I think it was badly done (I think you're right when you say it was some of the best acating and dialogue of the whole movie) but because it was so forced. I never ever ever bought into Anakin and Obi-Wan's friendship, and now all of a sudden when Anakin's lying there with no legs they are 'brothers' and obi-wan 'loved' him? To all the people who agree with me that TPM is, while horribly flawed, still the best of a bad bunch, get yourself a copy of the Phantom Edit. Less Jar Jar, less overall crap. Still not a great movie, but better.
