Listen I don't agree that the P.T. should have been made to look like the O.T. and I'll tell you why - the P.T. was made 1999-2005. The O.T. was made 1977-1983, so of course they're going to look different. It doesn't mean I agree with everything in the P.T. or the way in which they were made, but using today's technology and building off past experience, and moving forward is only natural. The movies were never ever going to "look the same". And they don't have to.

I have a friend who's 26 and he thinks golem looks awesome because he's CGI. Personally I think the effect would be more believable and better if they used a thin child to play the part covered in layers of make-up. CGI just does not look real, no matter how good it looks. Golem is a freaking eye-sore because he's not really there, and you can tell. When you watch the movie you can tell that it's not real and that it's only CGI. The should only use CGI when you're not going to be able to tell the difference. For instance, when I watch Starship Troopers all the bugs in the movie look "real" to me. I know they're CGI, but they look freaking awesome. I haven't seen Jurassic Park (the original) for years now, but I could never tell the difference between the CGI dinosaurs and the ones that were actually built (though i could in the sequel). And it's true, stop-motion looks awful compared to CGI - for instance watch the original Terminator movie where the Terminator is reduced to the endoskeleton near the end ... CGI would undoubtedly look better if the movie was made today (though T3 sucked and had some terrible CGI effects in it).

Yoda looks better as a puppet. He looks more real.

Lucas has major issues. He's very creative, very smart and a very good storyteller - but he has major issues. When he visited the set for the 5 points in the movie Gangs of New York he was quoted as saying "you can do that in a computer now". And nearly all the sets in the PT are... CGI. But Gangs of New York was shot in a real set - and it looks real. Some of the CGI sets in the P.T. don't look great - but many of them do. The point is that CGI is not the answer to "everything". And it's certainly not the answer to older movies. I don't want to see the early James Bond movies edited to match the special effects of the movies today. I mean come on.

Let's not start a flaming war here. I still have no idea where chrisdo is coming from, though. At first I thought he was just a guy like many other who think that CG looks better than stop-motion models, puppets, etc. That I could at least see some logic with, even though I didn't agree with where he was going. But he totally lost me when he said that a CG White House would look better and more realistic than the real White House. I'd try to refute that argument, but I just can't. There's absolutely no logic for me to grasp onto. And for a second I had to say that I pictured a guy afraid to leave his computer because the outside world was full of real things that didn't match up to the "spotless perfection" of CG. And that's just kind of scary, and I hope it's not true.

CGI looks better and you can many things never possible with
those classic Special Effects.

What is so difficult to understand on this statement, a cgi graphic
will look perfect. It is to perfect for real life, so we can see it is
not real.

I think we both mean the same, but say it in a different way.
CGI looks more perfect than reality, the original White House
can be cleaned and serviced as much as you want, it will never
be perfect.

so as long as we talk about perfection, cgi looks better than
reality. if i would be talking about realism, the original will look
more real.

but in a future world it is possible to have surfaces and material
that is self cleaning and looks like the corridors on camino

Oh i have no problem to leave my computer, believe me,
such Interests like Photography force me to leave my home
and deal with the imperfection of the world

If you spend enough time, use a tripod and wait until night
you can even make wonderful images of reality

As someone that’s been to Buchenwald and Dachau I don’t find it humorous. I find it disturbing and not in keeping with the ideals of the Germans I have known. Still if I hadn’t gone to those places I would definitely laugh.

I really think it is a miscommunication on Chrisdo’s part and I don’t think he will realize why you think that’s funny until he reads my post.

Chris, most of the forums I go to are ones that only adults go to. This is an exception. You are shallow if you're going to insult Dath_Evil because of his age. Just because he's 13 doesn't mean that's a point of argument. You know, as I mentioned before - starship troopers has fantastic CGI, I forgot to mention that all the space ships in the movie were done with models just like in the original star wars trilogy ... and they look freaking unbelievable.
Some were not blessed with brains.

Right.... you completely ignored me didn't you? So, I take it that you think the CG face I posted was perfect? Also, the corridors on Kamino were added in Models. That's right MODELS not cgi. Model 1 Don't believe the picture? Here's a behind the scenes thing they did for it.

Yeah, one of the things that irritates me the most are people who dismiss others simply based on age. Not only is it such a general statement because development is so individual, but it proves that they can't come up with a legitimate point to argue, so they simply play on society's ageism.

Yeah, jumping on somebody because of their age is gay (unless they are making extremely childish comments, which Darth_Evil is not). If I didn't know who was the elder out of Chrisdo and Darth_Evil, I would guess that Darth_Evil was the elder and Chrisdo was some young, foolish, cracked out teenager.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I said I wasn't going to check back in on this board, and I was just browsing the threads when I saw this earlier today and got curious. Thanks for supporting me everyone. Some of those comments, especially the ones dispelling everything Chrisdo said about me, really brightened my day.
