But while we're on the subject, there's a difference between European and English fans too. England is part of Europe by name alone. We have a lot more in common with the USA than our neighbours in Europe (I have travelled both places extensively). We are the black sheep of Europe - and not just in sports.

i dunno if i agree with you here. some americans are into soccer. but i don't think the majority are fans when say comparing to baseball or hockey. soccer isn't really a big american sport. i mean it is growing, but it's not as big as other ones.
