Addresses and contacts for various media outlets go in here

I am recommending this thread for the posting of email, snail-mail, and other contact information for media outlets to write to directly or to cc when . I recommend this thread not be used for discussion, as plenty of threads are discussing the DVD release already. Rather, this thread should be kept as a one-stop shopping mall for all the media contacts we can gather. Jay, if you think this merits a sticky, please do.

I find your lack of faith disturbing... sensible, but disturbing.
For as much as some people claim to hate what Star Wars has become, they sure seem incapable of shutting up about it.

How do we contact that Criterian guy and beg him to do the Star Wars collection?

Find out and post it here, though I'm sure they've offered. I'm sure Lucasfilm is the one who is the holdout on something like that. Sacrifice some profits? Bah, we'll just do a crappy in-house job and keep it all.

What about contacting big name retail outlet corporations (like Best Buy here on the West Coast) and telling them we're not buying the inferior DVD release?

All right. Aside from the media, here are a couple of contacts on more of "nerve" level, hopefully.

If retailers feel the heat of the September release in lost dollars and cents, maybe that will help.

Here's the Contact page for media and electronics store Best Buy (West Coast only?):
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat12104&type=page

If the discs aren't anamorphic, how can you hype Star Wars fans into getting a new widescreen plasma?

Here is Mark Hamills email I got off his webpage:

webmaster@markhamill.com

I know it is a stretch, but wouldn't be great if Mark Hamill took a dig at Lucas in the press for putting out a low quality release of a movie that made him famous?

Heh, that would be awesome. Once again, it's probably unlikely, but, then again, he has taken jabs at Lucas before, so you never know!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

The Boston Globe
The Boston Globe has a page dedicated for contacts: Boston Globe Contact Page

The most relevant contacts for the Living Arts section where they give the email/number for their reporters and editors. There are thirty-eight contacts for that section alone, too many to post so I'll link to the page with them:

Associated Press
(From their contact us page)
When sending e-mail messages to The Associated Press, do not send attachments. As a result of the huge volume of e-mail received daily, we may be unable to provide a response. However, all comments are read and taken into consideration.

Media Requests for Interviews
All requests from the media for interviews, comments or appearances by the AP staff are handled by AP Corporate Communications:
write to info@ap.org and address the request to:
Jack Stokes
Director of Media Relations

It may be easier to hit up local affiliates and smaller news rather than the National press itself. Find a couple of local people who feel the same way you do and contact your local news, if you're alone they are more likely to ignore you. Once the little guys start to talk about it the big ones will too, just a thought.

I just discovered this site:
Warm congratulations to everyone who has been in on the effort to obtain the release of the original Trilogy!!!

I just mailed about 95% of the adresses listed in this thread. I wouldn't want this stupid attitude of Lucas(films) to go unnoticed and the crappy bonus-discs issued without having tried contributing to help it!

Cheers to all.

Just a thought, but would an effective strategy be to utilize sympathetic members of the 501st, Rebel Legion, and/or Fanforce to even set up some kind of protest?

I don't think there's a better way to capture media attention than a bunch of beautiful geeky folks trooping around protesting the recent announcement. Does anyone have any contacts in any of those organizations?

I don't have any direct links to those guys, but you might want to try emailing the folks at www.lietv.com latestissuetv@gmail.com They recently interviewed the Jedi folk who put on professional duels in NYC, and may be able to utilize them as a contact for the others.(Great idea by the way, doing the protest to draw media attention)

For what it's worth, I just got a "failure to deliver" (or something) notification about my mail posted to <leonard@leonardmaltin.com>, two days after sending it...

Maybe something went wrong, but I'm telling you anyway.

Jay, I just visited the home page for the first time in a couple weeks. Thanks for noting this thread front and center. I hope it is inspiring others to act. I find it interesting that EW has remained mum on the situation thus far. Totally mum, which is more curious than ass-kissing on the set. Aside from a ho-hum to the initial announcement, I've seen nada.

For newbies to this thread, be sure to read all the pages. Lots of good addresses have been provided in previous posts.

Outstanding!

Having checked the site quickly, I saw that any complaints on advertising on websites are to be reported to another authority ("your local trading standards department (www.tradingstandards.gov.uk)" in the UK.

Living in Switzerland, though, I really don't have a clue about who's in charge of those matters in the United States.
