No, I didn't see the VH1 thing, but I have seen Queen perform with 2 Freddie Replacements. One of them I can't remember who he was but he was pretty good. One of them was Robbie Williams and, while I must admit he has a good voice, I think he's a wanker and is nowhere near Freddie Mercury's greatness, as a performer or an artist.

But I did recently see 'We Will Rock You', a musical written by Queen and Ben Elton (who co-wrote Blackadder), and featuring all the Queen classics, and the main guy in that was an INCREDIBLE singer.

Over in another thread somebody suggested that Michael Anthony (Van Halen Bassist) should take over vocal duties and they become a 3 piece. I think that's the way to go if one of your band leaves or dies - an existing member should take over. When Ian Curtis of Joy Division died, their guitarist became the singer and New Order was born. When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, Phil Collins, formerly just the guy on drums, emerged as a vocal talent in his own right. Recruiting new singers never seems to work.

Of course, if nobody else in your band can sing, you don't really have much choice.
