I read Batman: Dark Detective recently, and honestly, I didn't think it was all that good. It was pretty cool to read what was essentially a sequel to Strange Apparitions but the dialogue seemed clunky, and some of the story didn't make sense (not in that it was too complex, more like - why did that even happen?). I'd give it probably 3 Stars.

For the Teen Titans fans... I wish I didn't suck so much at drawing comics.

I don't mean this in an inflammatory or derogatory way as I'm a very open-minded guy, but I can summon only one word for this:

Batdyke.

DC has truly lost its soul with this bit of pandering.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

That's besides the point. The point is that Dan Didio is a stupid hack who thinks he has to pander to everyone. He's goign for 'more diversity'--in other words, forcing every agenda he can think of into the universe just to keep everyone happy. Diviersity in and of itself isnt' a bad thing, but when its forced, it's totally hollow.

Didn't the Ethnic Heroes like Samurai and Apache Cheif on Superfriends teach us ANYTHING!?

Yeah, I just think Batwoman should've stayed dead. DC should muster up the courage to kill off more of these knock-offs, not bring them all back to life.

If DC was brave Batgirl would be gone, Superboy would be gone, Supergirl would be gone, Krypto (or should I say "Superdog"?!) would be gone, Wonder Girl would be gone, etc. etc.

They're just cookie-cutter garbage, and any good stories based on them are more a tribute to the abilities of the writers themselves than the quality of the characters.

Sort of. He was retconned out of existence after the first Crisis but he was later brought back.

What is the origin of Krypto? I mean the original, 1940s (or whenever he first appeared) origin.

War does not make one great.

if i could be any comic book character i'd wanna be wolverine. cuz he's so sexy and masculine and those claws are just hot. except i want to be a girl. so in reality i'd wanna be a girl version wolverine, so i could have boobs and then seduce the real wolverine! and i'd want all the powers he has too. but i don't wanna be the bad one (like that bitch from X2).

Try Lady Deathstike then. She's one of Wolverine's greatest nemeses...

Well, you'll be hard-pressed to find a female comic book character with breasts much smaller than that! And WITH claws?! Sheesh, you're a demanding one aren't you?

BACK on topic, I just read the first story arc in the Dark Horse 'Conan' series. Excellent work both in writing and art. Kurt Busiek does some more magic... anyone else reading this series?

No, but I was interested when I read that Busiek was on it...

In other news, I've read a million comics over the last few weeks, but at the moment I'm reading Alan Moore's Watchmen, and I have to say, this is the best graphic novel I have ever read, bar none, and I haven't even finished it.

If you've liked it so far then I think you'll LOVE the payoff! It still stands, I believe, as one of the greatest works of comics literature every put to paper.

I must acquire this then.

Is there still a Red Sonja series in production?

Yeah, I was gonna say, it's one of the best things I've read period. I'm drawing close to the end. I'll be reading the last few chapters at work tonight.

There is a series running from Dynamite Entertainment. I have one issue which was very good but I haven't been picking it up regularly to know if its a good series overall. Also, on a weird note, there's a legal battle about the name and who can use the character because I guess one company owns the rights to the spelling 'Sonya' and another owns 'Sonja'. Stupid legal stuff.
