***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD — Page 22

I was actually thinking of the Sandtrooper scene, but those are interesting points as well.

The only difference between the OOT and DE-ANH in the Sandtrooper scene is that the Dewback roars, isn't it? Or were you referring to the Ronto right before the ID scene? Yes, I'd replace that in a heartbeat - but only if it's a good match for the 2004/6 DVDs.

I was thinking about the dewback scene for sure. I thought there were CG elements and different music cues in the SE. Though certainly I'd love to get the original Ronto scene (i.e. without the Ronto ). I actually love the old Mos Eisley scene as it was. I wish they'd just cleaned up the vaseline and left the rest of the scene alone. Spy bots in the background, too much hustle and bustle ... it made it feel like less of the backwater hole in the wall that it originally was.

But that's a matter of preference. The Ronto scene is just awful any way you look at it, so we both yanked it out, even if it meant losing the cool speeder that moves across the screen.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

Two more bugs squished:

- As Obi-Wan confronts Vader, the left hand side of the picture is bluey-green (possibly not noticeable on a TV).
- Vader's lightsabre loses it's glow at the top of frame for a couple of frames.

Okay, this weekend I'm going to recolour Luke's lightsabre in the other shots aboard the Falcon. Then, finally, I may sign off on it and upload (at least) an XVID version.

You're insane. I mean that in the nicest way possible, of course.

Anyway, while this is my first post, I've been reading (and reading and reading...) threads at this forum for quite a while now. I've learned a lot over that time and it's nice to see so many people who are passionate about making the OT the way we want it to be, not the way Lucas does. He can certainly do whatever he wants to with it, but finding editions like this that improve so much on the lacklustre '04 DVD release is great!

I got the DE ANH via Demonoid and I am quite impressed, as I knew I would be! (no artwork was included with the torrent, though, as you know. Is it available somewhere?) Thank you so much! I know your future releases will be just as outstanding.

I've now seen sense and decided against it. 500+ frames that are so badly coloured you can't really tell the lightsabre's wrong...

There's one piece of "official" artwork, which is the disc label that should have been (but wasn't) included in the torrent. If someone could tell me the filesize of the JPEG I put on the disc, I'll upload the right quality version so anyone getting the torrent will have the same file.

I'll add a link to the label in the description once it's uploaded to some host. It's just image, isn't it? That could be put on filelodge or some place like that easily.

Anyone know an image host that will take a 1.5mb file without requiring registration?

Depending on how much it's accessed, I might be able to host it at my site.

I've uploaded a slightly more compressed version:

The original filename should be DE-ANH20050525N.jpg but it got changed during upload. If you've downloaded the torrent from Demonoid and want to distribute discs, please add the file to the root of the disc.

If I've done it right, an XVID of "version 2" (DE-ANH20060510X) should now be available as a torrent from Demonoid (as per the rules, no direct link, but just register and search).

Thank you, sir! If I still had my old FTP, I'd host the uncompressed picture for you, but I'm with a much more corporate ISP now that is a joke as far as giving subscribers webspace and such (for example, offering 15MB of webspace...but it's just the almost useless Geocities, which is free anyway! You can also store pictures with them, but no hotlinking allowed.)

I've made one other very minor edit - Luke's line "Lookit, there's a droid on the scanner" is now "Look, there's a droid on the scanner." He might just be saying "look" anyway - it's hard to tell. It's such a minor edit that I won't be changing the serial number.

Is anyone still interested in PAL/NTSC DVD torrents?

I would love both torrents. I would also love to know where I can get the disc labels and cover pics. I found erikstormtroopers red and blue covers, but nothing else. And though it's been said before, brialliant job. I think I have the first release of this. Would love to have DL or SL copies of the new(?) editions.

I have uploaded the full-res disc label for the NTSC version to my site:

There won't be a DL version. I've been very happy with the quality of TMPGEnc Express (the first edition was encoded using the old "free" TMPGEnc) and because there are no extras the bitrate isn't much lower than the official DVD. The other reason there's no DL version is that I'd rather have a disc without layer changes.

Thanks for hosting that image, Erik - could you post the links to the covers again, to save anyone trawling the thread?

Thanks for the covers. Still can't find the disc art though.

Never mind. I found it. The link didn't work, but when I copy and paste it, it does. Are there any other disc labels? Specifically one that matches Erikstormtroopers covers?

Maybe just the blue vader pic blown up to fit the disc with the DE-ANH20050525N on the bottom real small?

My covers were designed to go along with Darth Editous' disc label. If you look closely at the back of my cover, behind the words, you can see the same art that's on the disc label.

Wow. That's sneaky. I hadn't even noticed that. Nice job. I would still like a pic of the blue vader by itself. Can you send it to me? BTW, is there a section on erikstormtrooper.com with your covers? I couldn't find it.
