See Dick storyboard! Storyboard, Dick, storyboard!

Sadly this wound up as a Calvert shot in the final, though not a horrible one.

Original Ken Harris guide poses for the Thief up a tree ... turned into a video file by Luke Menichelli. Sadly it wobbles all over the place in the middle because of the way I scanned it.

Okay, let's see if this works. I've never created/uploaded a torrent myself before.

I've created a torrent for the high quality Emule workprint of The Thief and the Cobbler and the 1966/1972 documentaries.

I've also created a torrent for the Princess and the Cobbler work in progress version and lots of other good stuff.

Go to The Pirate Bay... search for "Richard Williams" or "Thief and the Cobbler." You'll see my torrents. Start downloading them.
Okay, let's see if this works. I've never created/uploaded a torrent myself before.

I also have a few torrents up at mininova.org ... but I'm not sure if those work ... or indeed if any of these are working, so please someone jump on so I can see if it's working yet.

I've gone and asked for uploader status at myspleen.net - again - but frankly I don't expect anything from them. They're ... strange.

Someone connected to one of the Pirate Bay torrents a bit back and some of it uploaded ... so I think it's working.

I've gone ahead and put up the ENTIRE DVD THERE. Let's see if this works.

I'm not sure if these torrents are showing up in a search there yet, so just check Recent Torrents for them.

Yyyaaaaaaaayyyyy. Time to make room on the hard drive.

Edit: Seedage is dead on the DVD torrent. Everyone's stuck at 8.5%.

I so far connected to the thrid part myself (mainly for the workprint). Seems like it'll take longer for me since you're the only seeder for now.

Just as a point of clarification, everything quoted earlier on in the message is my responsibility and not the work of "Mary A. Giordano".

hello every body this is my first post
hat off to mr ocpmovie!!
i've heard about this proyect some time ago (by the time the trailer was relese in you tube) and it's an amazing job what you have been doing. i've been reading all the post to track the story of the recobbled cut your are doing and it was quite a trip. i saw it completly in you tube the other knight and i love it. watching an animation movie with part on storyboar or pencil test blown me away. it's a dream came true, specially with this movie that has sufered so many cuts and the posibility to see it the closest as the director ment it it's incredible
i have a couple of questions in my mind and i hope you could anwerd them
1- have you been in any contact with richard williams so he provide you with acurate input or even better, with original material, workprints or art?
2- i read that you allready did one edit of this movi like 6 years ago, was that part of some job or also like a proyect?
3- is it going to be a torrent to download the the movie in full quality with all the extras for hyper fans or you are planing to sell it ??
well, that's all for now. thaks!
sorry for the crappy english!

I'm (obviously) not ocpmovie, but I know enough to answer all of your questions.

1) No, he has not had any direct contact with Richard Williams. He HAS had contact with Richard Williams's son Alex, who also worked on the film, as well as several other people who worked with him on the film. Some of them did provide him with new content. However, the copy of the workprint he used is a new version that showed up on emule recently.

2) His first version of the edit was a full screen (1.33:1) version that he did as a personal project.

3) The final cut has been torrented. I can't link to it, but it's available on The Pirate Bay. Go to the site and do a search for "Thief and the Cobbler". You'll find it. The tracker says that there is zero seeds, but that is incorrect. It is being seeded right now. Some of the bonus materials have also been torrented on Pirate Bay. Send OCP a PM (personal message) for more info on directly obtaining copies of the edit/extras.

OCP--

I received your care package a couple days ago, and was completely taken by surprise. I'm really anxious to check it out--as soon as the 30 pages worth of papers are written for my classes, I'm checking it out. THANK YOU!

thanks tweker!
i read in past post from the help of his son and i don't know if it was him or other guy who worked on the film that gave him tons of art to scan at high resolution (wich i allready downloaded all, all amazing stuff)
i have the emule workprint a and all the pack that it's on my spleen. when i went to pirates bay i found that the torrent there has the same explanation of the one at my spleen. are those the same? the recobbled version is now there too?
well thank again!

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but someone's posted this to alt.binaries.dvd if anyone has access to the newsgroups.

Yeah, I think it was mentioned 5 posts earlier.

I've been admiring this thread from afar for a while now, and let me say that I've got a lot of respect for all the work that ocpmovie and others have put into this.

So this morning I was really happy to read that ocp seeded a dvd torrent of this up the The Pirate Bay last week... only to find that The Pirate Bay has now gone the way of Suprnova as of this morning.

Talk about bad timing, huh? Anyhow, while I try to deal with the newsgroups, is there any way that this could be seeded somplace else, like MySpleen?

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Thanks again for the efforts.

Bad timing. The Pirate bay is gone, and the 20 people I was seeding, well, most of them had only 4 megs left to go ... at like 99.9 percent.

I need a new tracker. Ideas?

I've asked for myspleen status many times to no avail. I am asking Chris to put it up so we'll see if that happens.

Those who have partially downloaded the film, hold on to it, we'll figure this out and get it on another tracker so you can finish.

How big is the file - you can always split it into parts (rar files) and put them on megaupload.com

Mininova.org and Demonoid.com are 2 biggies.

Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Now while I don't have any invites available to offer for signing up on Demonoid ATM, I have posted the odd torrent there myself, and just now posted a torrent for the Recobbed Cut as copied off the disc I recently received in the mail :')

I was thinking before of posting a torrent, until I saw the other one had been posted to TPB already. Even then I was thinking of popping on to help seed that one out, but ended up not after loading up the torrent and directing it to "re-check" the data, for some reason it didn't come out as being 100% identical to the torrent's contents (more like ~87% if memory serves). AFAIK I've got the final revision of the disc so I'm at a loss for this discrepacy. Because of this it might mean a bit of a longer download than just those few megs for anyone hopping over from the old torrent and were at the 99% mark, but at least it's out there again for download. I posted a copy of this torrent on Mininova as well for those who can't get it directly from Demonoid.

I re-"built" the DVD several times so it could be the same disc with no differences but different data anyway.

Anyway, you heard the man, the thing is up at Demonoid!

I'll be working with Chris on some Myspleen torrents also. THOSE should be identical to what you're already downloading.

I D/Led this from the newsgroups and I'm extremely impressed. This could be the best fan-edit DVD I've ever seen. Thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to create this.
