I was just thinking of the two greatest crossover games of our time: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and Capcom Vs. SNK 2. In each, you can do 3-on-3 battles and do major hyper combos on the poor jerk who thinks he can beat you. In fact, I'm getting copies of the games for my PS2 even though I already have them, since they're so good.

Out of the two, I favor MVC2 over CVS2 because it has Marvel characters. My favorite characters in MVC2 are Iron Man, Hulk, and Wolverine. My favorite in CVS2 is Sagat (I only use Capcom character in that game.
