Ric, I'm sorry you had a bad day, but I got a big kick out of that Death Star/mirror thing. Hopefully in the morning, you will too. Me, I can't take Tylenol. It makes me throw up. I'm an Advil person.

I REALLY hate dreams sometimes, they dig up so much shit every now and then.

I hate it that my dreams are normally repeats of things I did during the day lately. I swear I never have any cool dreams anymore.

I always have awesome dreams, and the usually have celebrity cameos in them too! I remember I've had Richard Dawson (from Family Feud), Rob Schneider, and Gavin Macleod (Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Love Boat) make appearances in my dreams. Last night was a really cool one. I dreamed that a John Gotti-looking mob boss was trying to climb up through a chimney-looking contraption. And, in my theatre classes, it was the end of the year, and our class uniforms were Jedi robes. And my professor used a special wand to make glyphs appear on the walls.

Chaltab I know what you mean, the same thing has been happening to me in the past few months.

Also, everyone says they always "wake up before they hit the ground," but I never do...can anyone find symbolism in this lol? In fact, I have even died a few times in my dreams. Once in particular, the most recent time, I was put in the electric chair (or maybe the lethal injection chair). Nevertheless, it was an interesting thing to think about the next day.......

I remember a few years ago, I used to have a dream that I was running, and then I fell into a pit (bottomless, I'm assuming). Whenever I fell in, my ears would start ringing, and I would wake up. Strange, yes?

I also remember that when I first saw Jurassic Park (I must've been around 7 or 8 years old), I had dreams that I was running through the forest behind my grandparents' house while being chased by a T-Rex. At first I would wake up before the dream ended, but I eventually got to the point where I single-handedly killed the T-Rex with nothing but a hatchet. It was awesome.

Heh, thanks. It would be nice, though, if some hot celebrity women would make cameos, though, and fall madly in love with me. Damn, not even in my dreams!

And, yeah, I used to have the falling dream all the time as a kid. Except with me, my dreams would end with me suddenly being on top of a high platform inside a three-ring circus tent, and then I'd dive off of it and wake up when I landed face-first. I haven't had that happen in years. However, when I'm lying in bed, not quite asleep, I'll often feel a sharp falling/landing sensation that will wake me up. My hypothesis is that I stop breathing (because I do that sometimes), and that's the feeling of me finally catching my breath. As a kid, I could control my dreams a lot of the times. I would become aware that I was dreaming and be able to twist its reality (to an extent) to my own will. And if things ever got too intense, I would be able to pull myself out of a dream and wake myself up at will. As a very young child, I would just blink to do that. As I got a little bit older, I would open my eyes really wide until my physical eyes popped open. I wish I could still do stuff like that.

That's not true at all and I can only assume by that comment that you've either never been to Southern California or are very stuck in the ways of wherever it is you're from (neither of which are your fault, of course, but you might want to try widening your horizons and opening your mind). I've spent lots of time in Los Angeles and that is where I'm moving to. I like the people there. People in the midwest seem to think people from the west coast, especially California, are all weirdos, but I think it's them and their insular ways that are weird.

HLF - I also hate pollen and dust. They are killing me right now.

Dreams - my brother and I both had the same recurring dream that we were being chased through a park by a King/Donkey Kong type ape. The dream entailed my brother and I plus our Parents sharing a picnic in a park when this ape comes tearing out from the trees and starts chasing us. The rest of the dream is just the monkey chasing us (it's like a cartoon where the background just keeps repeating and the characters are running on the spot.

What would Freud say about my brother and I having the same dream?

Most likely something about a cigar and how you both have attractions to your mother.

What would Freud say about my brother and I having the same dream?

well his whole views were sexual tension and conflicts. and he'd probably say something like you both desire what each other has and live through each others lives in some connected way. but his theories were all mainly based on sex.

the part where you are being chased by a monkey (not sure what that would symbolize, maybe evolution who knows) means you're technically 'running away' from some repressed sexual feeling.
like i said, i don't believe in freudian psychology. Jung though dreams were important in psychology, but he didn't emphasis the whole sexual bit like Freud did.

Well, we were both pretty young when we were having the shared recurring dream (I was probably about 8, which would make him 6), so I'm not sure I really had any sexual issues at that age, repressed or otherwise. The bit about us both desiring what eachother has (talents, aspects of our personalities, etc) I would say is true even today, but in a respectful rather than resentful way (i.e I respect aspects of my bro that I wish I had, but I don't resent him for having them).

But the fact that we both had the same dream (and before anyone says one of us probably told the other which caused him to have the same or similar dream, that's not how it happened) is interesting. Maybe we have some kind of psychic sibling link. Maybe all sinlings have this ability?

personaly i think it's really cool. you probably do have a very special brotherhood bond to be dreaming the same things. because it's def not very common. i sometimes have the same re-occuring dreams, and i guess you could say that i do believe that in our dreams we are sorting out events or such in our brains. i was always pretty interested in dream analysis just not the Freudian stuff

but funny enough, (i just have to throw this out here), freud believed that we were most sexually frustrated when we were young kids, especially between the ages of 2-10. it's the whole thing about the son wanting his mother, and the daughter wanting her father; but in reality the child knows that can't happen as the other spouse is there. therefore the son competes with the father (or daughter with her mother). but isn't that just f*cked? it's funny cuz my psych prof two years ago said he witnessed this with his son. he used to get very angry when he was weened of breast feeding and when he saw his father touching his mother, he'd get mad at his dad because she wouldn't let him (the son) breast feed or touch her (for that matter) anymore. i dunno if i really believe that it was due to some sexual repressed conflict though.

Sure is.

Dunno if I believe your prof's kid wanted a piece of his mother though - he probably just didn't understand why daddy was allowed something he wasn't. I'm sure he's get just as angry if daddy was allowed to play with a toy truck and he wasn't.

Then again maybe it's true and we are all sickos who want to jump our Mums (or Dads).

Well, you never can quite tell what goes on in our subconscious. We're probably some pretty sick bastards (or bitches) and just cover it up with layers of psychoses.
