I mean, obviously, you're not going to take credit for a war you didn't win. I'm referring more to the cause of the war. In our history books, it goes into a lot about how the Britains were essentially greedy despot bastards who took away our livelihood until we had no choice but to fight. I assumed that British textbooks referred to us as ungrateful upstarts or something like that.
My history teacher was excellent and we always examined events from all angles. I don't believe history should be taught from any one point of view, and I spit on those who do so. (judging by my wife's knowledge of history, she was taught very badly).
