But like I said, conversion is a tricky one. Judging by prices of other goods in the UK compared to American prices, I would say that it equates to roughly $5 a gallon, which is still more expensive than here.

Why do the English pay more for gas than everywhere else? Mainly because of the taxman. almost 50 percent is fuel tax, plus there's a sales tax (which we in England call VAT - Value added tax) which stands at 17.5% on EVERYTHING we buy, including food.

Yes, it is an abominable place to live, at least for the working man.
