I think THX is correct about more resolution making it to the Pal laserdiscs. So they will no question look better, maybe even good. By today's standards for dvd, they will be terrible. Today, non anamorphic is considered just as bad as only releasing it in pan & scan. I don't think we should accept this. In fact I think we shouldn't be so willing to buy anything that says Star Wars on it, good or bad. Lucas has found a weakness with a geek fanbase and exploited it. We need to restrain ourselves so Lucas will have to create something new beyond a shiny package or new box.
An action figure can't move by itself. A box or case may be cool to look at but it just takes up space in the end. And a movie is just a movie. There really isn't much point to buying something if you already have it like many of us do. I'll probably take a wait and see approach with the new set or see if I can score it for a good price. But is it worth $20.00 for slightly improved video quality? That's up to all of us ourselves to decide. However, the only people who should consider buying this "for the future or to have a better chance of them being released again" is if they're going to give them to a library or a friend. Or better yet, rip them to their computer and make a "back up" copy, then donate them.
