No More "Preservation Projects"

I propose that this site no longer refer to fan made creations using older inferior media as "preservation projects" but instead go with the much more stylish and apt name. For instance, let's say someone took the widescreen LD of Star Trek - The Motion Picture and put that on their own DVD. That person could say they Lucasfilmed it!

Who's with me?!

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

Is the LD of ST:TMP based on the extended VHS/TV cut? Because I, uh ... actually prefer that one to the theatrical or director's cut. It's all about Shatner and Nimoy adlibbing on the bridge and making sense of Roddenberry's boring, uninspired story.

There were several releases on LD of ST:TMP. Some were the original theatrial, and some were the extended.

oh, it needs to stay a preservation project, it would be much better than LFL's DVD.

BTW, does anyone know how to get a fanmade DVD of the original star wars trilogy without having to email ritker. I desire a copy for myself, but don't want to get into any illegal mumbo-jumbo. That is just wrong.

Oh it was all hypothetical. I just think using the term "Lucasfilmed" would be an appropriate "F you".

They are on bittorrents as well to download. myspleen has the editdroid collection, and Dr. Gonzo is on Demonoid, I think. Or maybe it was someplace else. But you could do that, if you want.

I suppose if you call it illegal mumbo- jumbo then it is the same whether you get it from a torrent, from Rikter or from anyone else. Personally I would feel safer getting it from Rikter than downloading it. He even has a disclaimer saying you cannot get them if you do not own the originals, which I am assuming you have them on VHS like the majority of us. In that case while it may still be considered illegal, it is in a bit of a gray area, you alreay own that same material on one formatte, you are just getting a backup copy of it on a different formatte. But either way I suppose the way the video industry looks at it, it is all ilegal mumbo-jumbo.

Good one, Neil. My opinion is even lower. I use tartar control toothpaste to keep my teeth from being Lucasfilmed.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Or if you refer to screwing someone over in a monetary way, you are luca$hing them.
