Could there be some under the table work at Lucasfilm, in our favor?

Read this line again:
So many fans have requested the original movies, we wanted to find a way to bring them to you.
They had to find a way to give it to us. They couldn't just give it too us flat out (because Lucas forbids it), so they had to piggy back it on the SE DVDs.

But since these movies do not represent George's artistic vision, we could not put the extraordinary time and resources into this project as we did with the Special Editions.

Basically, "We would if we could, but Lucas is a prick so we can't."

They know we want it. That is why they are trying to get it out to us. But the enemy forces are hot on their shoulder and they can't very well give us what we want. I don't think Lucas will let them. So they are giving us these DVDs, promoting more of the "unaltered version" angle rather than "bonus, bonus, bonus."

I think the Lucasfilm workers are selling us the movies while George's emperial troops look on as the employees say, "Yes. Here are your DVDs, sir. *wink wink* They contain bonus material. *wink wink* It's not as good as the 2004 version... *gun cock noise*...the, er, definitive version, but I think you will have fun with this. Fun. *wink wink*"
