I am losing sleep over this!

Seriously. I am tired of being dicked around by the powers that be. It is the fans that created Lucasfilm, at the very least they can give us a decent copy of the OOT. Even if it is 'bonus material'.

Maybe they are not understanding what we are complaining about. I (we) don't want a painstaking restoration. Just a decent anamorphic transfer. What is so hard about that?

It is not a question that they 'can't' do it, it is that they won't do it. Maybe come September, we just rent the discs and do your own anamorphic transfers and save some money.

They reply email everybody got (except me, ???) should be forwarded to the media. Both email and hard copy. Show the general public how Lucasfilm really feels about their 'customers'. The problem is, 90% of the general public doesn't give a crap. Lets face it, we are a small bunch in the grand scheme of things.

So what can we do? I thinks all restoration projects should continue and when completed, be sent to Lucas. Show him that we and his 'works in progress' are NEVER going to go away. I still think the 'mail back the SE discs' is a great idea. However, to do this, one must accually purchase the set.

I am close to giving up and leaving Star Wars behind. It is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry about the bitching. Just needed to vent a little.

Another non-namorphic DVD thread: Yay!!

Give it up guys. I feel your pain, but f**k it. Mr. Lucas, you just lost a customer.

For every 1 customer lost, they gain 5 more. Mainly because the majority of the blind public is clueless. It's one thing to not buy, but another to let people know why. How many people got duped into buying the 04 set? and the 05 set because they thought it was the originals? I know a few personally and have heard from a few people here. Once people see that the OOT is on DVD, they will say "great, lets buy it. Its on DVD so it must be great quality" WRONG! And the small percentage of people who complain, will get the same stupid lame answer we got, and say, 'well, ok.'

You people talk about "fuck it, Star Wars is dead to me" but it sound like you guys are giving too quickly. The road gets a little bumpy and now you want out. The Death Star takes out one of your command ships and now you wanna go home.

Well tough. Once a Star Wars fan, always a Star Wars fan. You give up now, and Lucas wins. We've come this far. We've gotten him to acknowledge us. Hell, he's even caved a little bit and is releasing a version.

But it's a crappy LD version. Why? Because he is afraid of us. Yes, us. The fans. He's afraid that if he does present a good version nobody will like his version and he will have failed himself as a human and a man. Oh boo-hoo.

Giving up is an acclamation of defeat. You don't like Star Wars anymore? Fine. There's the door. And don't let it hit you on the way out.

But if your a fan, a true fan, then join us. Here's your helmet and a nerf gun, with Lucas seeking missiles.

We have not yet begun to fight.

I don't want out of Star Wars - I love the Original trilogy. I abso-fucking-lutely love it. But I hate Lucasfilm as a corporation, I hate having to beg and crawl to get the single most important movie of the last 30 years on a modern format, I hate the fact that I have legitamately paid for the OT six times. I hate the way they are saying 'this is what the fans want, yay the fans, han shot first, buy this DVD' and then totally dicking us in the knowledge that I will buy these films a seventh time. Well I won't. I have Laserdisc rips, and they are good. All the suckers who keep saying 'hey, shucks, you know, sure it's crap, but I'm gonna buy it because that way Lucas will release it on HD', well to them I say fine, go ahead, buy it. Buy something you don't want.

If that makes me a quitter/star wars hater in anybody's eyes, whatever. If the OT is released at a later date in a package worthy of it's greatness (OT only, anamorphic presentation, lots of extras, shitloads of differnt sound options, nice fancy packaging etc) I'll buy it. Until then, I can't afford to waste my money on something I don't want (and already have).

I WAS ON THAT DAMN COMMAND SHIP!!
For as much as some people claim to hate what Star Wars has become, they sure seem incapable of shutting up about it.

You want a Star Wars analogy? If Lucas is the Emperor, you guys who are buying this crap are his appeasers, hoping that if you just go along with it things will work out. At the very best you are members of the senate trying to protest with letter writing. Well that didn't turn out too good for the galaxy, and it took some kids saying 'hell no, enough is enough' to finally end the insanity.

Well I'm saying enough is enough. I've drank Lucas' Cool Aid and it tastes like cat piss. I don't have the ability to make my own preservations, but I can sure as hell support those who do by watching them over official releases and by distributing them. Let the evil Emperor rule the galaxy with an iron fist = I'm off to hang out in exile on Dagobah with my boy Yoda, waiting until the time is right.

Please, friends, don't give up on Star Wars yet.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's apathy. I can tell by your comments that all of you who say you're through with Star Wars really do care deep down.

Please don't loose hope. We need you guys in the fight. If you drop out, our chances of winning drop too.
We are all here because we love the original Star Wars Trilogy. Don't give up on her, she's only a detention block away. Don't let the moronic guards stop you.

Exactly. Apathy. I'm not giving up - I just don't care anymore. Well, not enough anyway.

Not to long ago, there was not even a rumor of the movies being released to DVD. None of us knew if we would ever see them on an official DVD. Probably many of us (I thought all of us, but it seems since the announcement a great number has come out and said it was a pathetic, lame idea since the beginning. Ungrateful...) were looking forward to the X0 project, the best I ever hoped to have on DVD. A version with the love and care required to make it something worth while. I figured once this comes out I wont bother with it anymore, I'll just be content with those. I imagine many others have felt somewhat this way also.

So, I think it is ashame all these people claiming they are giving up because of the discouraging news regarding the quality of the release.

Well, you know what? Worst case scenario, we are back to where we all were a month ago, back when we had no clue that it was going to be released officially. After the first couple of days after the announcment, when the bad news started trickling in, and when I first saw the cover art, I shoved this release off as I have the last two. I don't care about it at all. I wish it were a decent release but it isn't. Now I am back to waiting for the X0. Until then we have editdroid or whichever you prefer.
