Massive scars? I never noticed.

Okay, for someone as die hard as me, I've never been able to notice the "massive scars" that poor Mark Hamill had to live with after his car accident.

When my aunt first saw Empire Strikes Back, she made the comment "wait, that's not the same guy that played Luke in the first movie."
To me, I never noticed. And I've tried to see what other's are seeing.

But I'm no doctor and the plastic surgeons did a fantastic job of fixing up what Mark describes as "his face consisting of raspberry pie." I simply cannot see the alterations.

Well, maybe a wee bit in the nose area, but even then I don’t understand what it is I am seeing. I notice something is different, but it is so small that my brain just disregards it as an error and moves on.

What was changed? Not much apparently.

If you look closely, he face has been "flattened" a bit in Empire due to the reconstructive surgery... which, I believe, is the reason they included the wampa scene in the beginning, to explain his scarring.

But I agree, it was never that noticable to me either. Though the damage to his face is much more noticeable now; he looks old beyond his years I feel.
For as much as some people claim to hate what Star Wars has become, they sure seem incapable of shutting up about it.

I think so too. He's look older now than he really is. But it can't be blamed on anything other than the fact that scar tissue doesn't hold up to time as well as uninjured tissue.

Actually, Hamill, himself, has denied the "extensive surgery" claim. He says his nose was broken, and there was one minor reconstructive surgery.

Why doesn't George Lucas just remove the Wampa scene and digitally repair Mark Hamill's face? Of course in a few years he can just replace Mark Hamill with the actor that played Luke in Episode III, or maybe turn him into a Gungan.

I think the actor that played Luke was a girl.

But that is a totally bitching thing right there. How awesome would that be to say, "Yeah I played Luke Skywalker (or Princess Leia if the baby is indeed a girl) in the Star Wars movie.

Perhaps you are being treated unfairly?

...No.

Good. It would be unfortunate if I had to release this in pan-and-scan only.
