Yuck

Guess I'll be printing my own. Thank goodness for the folks here who know how to make excellent covers.

[EDIT] Fixed link

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

They may be designed to go alongside another set of PT re-issues. I don't think their's anything else on the horizon apart from new PT DVD's, until the 3D versions have done the rounds at cinemas (if ever). And if I'm not mistaken weren't the 2004 DVD covers silver as opposed to gold?

O ya cuz isn't the PT boxset going to out this year according to rumor. And then the mega box set with a shit load of changes for all the film in 2007.

I think those covers may have just made up my mind not to buy these things. I thought it would be cool since they were to be two disc sets and could have fit well with the prequel dvds. I never bought the 2004 set or the 05 set, but I thought it was retarded that the widescreen ones were silver, preventing them from blending nicely on the shelf with the prequel trilogy dvds. These covers are making it easy for me to wait until 2007 before buying anything. Also I am sure there will be plenty of these things sitting in the used DVD stores, just as their are plenty of the o4 boxsets. As limited as they may be, I am sure I wont have any trouble getting my hands on them if I decide I want them in the future.

They're releasing them in Full Screen? Why? Does this mean the "bonus" original films will also be panned and scanned. How cheap is it to spend time and money making two different versions while not making the films anamorphic. This confirms it, Lucas just wants to taunt and spite us.
And the new covers do suck, they even manage to look worse than the previous ones.

I am starting to think less and less of the OUT that will be included. It is feeling more and more like it is merely the 04s with the OUT included as a bonus feature (merely for historical interests), in that case this will be under the whole "*Bonus materials not rated" idea. What I mean by that is while the film has certian features and standards they don't apply to the bonus material. The OUT will probably be widescreen on both the widescreen and fullscreen versions. It is not much like getting a real OUT DVD. I think this edition will do little more than illigitimize laserdisc transfers like the X0, no longer beign able to claim it is for preservation of an unrealesed film, and encourage fans to add yet anther copy of the SE to their collections.

Who is the loser who makes these crappy covers for Lucasfilm? He would have certainly flunked a basic photoshop course and he has no artistic eye.

Still better than the first release.

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

Yeah, those were the '97 SE poster art and box covers.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Probably just an old catalog- those were the VHS SE boxes.

And they are far nicer covers than the current ones. I love Drew Struzan's work.

The only thing I didn't like about them was how they mixed and match things from different movies, like how Darth Vader's TIE was in The Empire Strikes Back poster, and how the silhouette of The Empire Strikes Back duel was on the cover of Return of the Jedi.

Oh my god. I never noticed that. Ha!

I still wished that they would have hired an artist to paint/stencil an awesome poster for these three movies (to make them match what was done for the PT). But I guess that would have been expensive.

And how it makes Chewie and Jabba out to be the stars of ROTJ.

Still great paintings though, and if you stick them together it makes one big trilogy poster, so the mixing and matching can be forgiven.

They did. The OT artwork below was done by the same artist, Drew Struzan, that did the Prequel posters.

Here's a link to more info about him and what he's done in Hollywood over the years: Drew Struzan
