When the anouncement came of the OUT DVD's I was so excited and forgave Lucas for his actions over the past couple years. But now with the updates on the DVD's I ahve now lost all possible respect for him and LFL. These disc can't possbility pass Fox's quality control can it?!?!

Yeah, this really broke my heart.

I'm not a Lucas basher but i may be becoming a Lucasfilm basher. This release was going so well, everything would have been so easy to set right--and it almost feels like they went out of their way to screw us. I just dont get it. This shocked me more than the actual release that they would be released because i figured Lucasfilm would put out something respectable. I guess I was wrong.

Ya really there wasting money just to make it shittier. They have the friggin 35mm film prints from 1993 but they just have to be difficult and use a laserdisc master.

How cheap can Lucashfilm get? Making a widescreen video on dvd anamorphic these days isn't too hard with a home computer, it's very easy and hardly an additional expense. Not spending time and money on a restoration is one thing but for a major studio today not to make an anamorphic dvd means a "deliberate creative decision" to make the films look bad. How could any respectable film person sink so low? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't every widescreen content on all star Wars dvd's anamorphic. This won't even be state of the art for '93, Terminator 2 was anamorphic on laserdisc and it came out in 1993.

Take back the trilogy. Execute Order '77

I am completely done with Lucas now.

We have to fight for every single, lousy inch to get these films on DVD. With all the requests that have been made to see these released, ANY company out there would break their behinds to get it into the hands of those who want it. This release is guaranteed to make $$$$. Why not put out the best possible product, even if it's just a barebones release? Give the people what they want in the best possible way and they will not only give you their money, they will respect you on a fundamental level. What Lucas is doing here is so senseless, it's hard to believe a rational human being is making the decision here.

Lucas is just plain insane. The man is simply not wired correctly in his head. His thinking is totally FUBAR.

He's not even worth the debate anymore. I say we still push cuz maybe we will get a better presentation, but if and when we get it, I will never give George Lucas, any Lucas company or any of his films a first thought, much less a second thought. This whole fiasco is downright stupid and more....it's totally unnecessary. There is no excuse for this.

Lucas and Lucasfilm have basically said "okay, you win, but we are doing a scorched earth tactic, so fuck you."

So we are getting our DVD's in unaltered form, but as a last gesture it's going to be a shit transfer that is no better than what has been done by fan editor, and actually may be worse.

I don't buy this whole idea that it can't be done. OCP made a nice transfer anamorphic using elements from the DVD and LD sets. Lucasfilm with all its resources couln't be bothered to make anything remotely like that.

I'm about done with Lucas, Star Wars and all of it. There comes a time when the abuse ends and it is time to move on.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

If the DVD's really come out in the form they have been announced, I will lose all respect for the man. I had more respect for him when he wasn't going to release them. The reason is that I came to terms and stubbornly accepted the fact that he would never release the versions I wanted. Then we get this announcement which makes me happy. Then all hopes are shot within two weeks when I find out they will not be anamorphic and probably the same masters used for the DC and Faces LD's and VHS tapes.

One other thing. If he uses the the same masters for the sound the snowspeeder spinning out of control and exploding will not be heard. That is how it is on the Faces and DC sets. When I was going to continue my project, I was going to take that piece of audio from the SE VHS set that I am going to sell.

Lucas makes it very tough to continue to be a Star Wars fan, especially if you have a 16x9 TV or will be purchasing one in the near future.

I don't have any respect for George Lucas left in me either. Screw him, I say. If he's that determined to treat his groundbreaking films with such contempt, I don't have the slightest hesitation in telling to go jump off the Golden Gate Bridge and keep the shit-ass second-rate crap he's putting out. Star Wars should be taken out of his hands and put with those who actually care about the material. He doesn't understand what his own movies have become, I think.

It's funny, I was watching OCP's Deleted Magic recently, and it has all kinds of stuff that shows how much the original film might have sucked if not for the brilliant job done by the editors. Lucas never had nearly the talent anyone thought he did, seems like. Though he was much better back then than he is now.

Sigh. I wish I could just forget about Star Wars for a while! I'd be happier for not being so focused on being upset all the time. But I can't, it's too important to me . . .

i already lost my respect when it said that they realeasing it as a friggin' bonus! after all our efforts we deserve a proper offical release! that's also why they don't bother with the anamorphic, it's just a extra! garrrr!!!!
