One thing that people frequently forget about DVD is that it's lossy compressed video. MPEG2 in YUV colorspace, and even with a lack of visible artifacts on playback, there are unrecoverable losses in detail and color information. LD may have a disadvantage in resolution, but the image it does deliver is more genuine... provided you can extract it.

I really wouldn't be suprised if the X0 release looks better than any release using the 2006 DVDs as a source, since the video's only been through a compressor on the final step. Not to mention the PCM audio, which I hope is undergoing equal care.


Disclaimer: I'm slightly jaded when it comes to lossy compression in general.
